God 90's... Spongebob Squarepants is the scourge of this age and most likely the reason why kids these days are so damn stupid. Nothing beats the Spider-Man and Batman animated series!

90s Cartoons, as they're more important to my childhood. The new ones seem completely alien to me.
and why is everyone a teenager now? Teen ironman, teen spiderman, the teen fucking team thing led by Robin... ummm... teen titans? Anyway, it's gay.

90's all the way. We had such goodness as Angry Beavers and Hey Arnold back then. Nowadays only decent cartoon is Phineas & Ferb. Even Spongebob started to suck horrendously (because Hillenburg abandoned ship).

But if you ask me, what truly rocks is good ol' Soviet animation from the 80's. See for yourself.

On one hand, the 90's had Tiny Toons Adventures, Chip and Dale Rescue Rangers, and better Simpsons episodes, but on the other, the 00's had Avatar The Last Airbender. This is gonna be a tough one.

Unfortunately, I'm not fit to judge as I haven't seen/remembered that many 90's cartoons; I was 5 in 1999.

00's cartoons make me feel really sad, and they've only been getting worse and worse

Why is this a contest? '90s were much better. The new millennium cartoons are cheaply veiled rip-offs of the '90s.

I prefer stuff from the 90s, but I'm a bit too old to get into a lot of the 00s stuff.
The older xmen and batman cartoons are much better than the newer ones.
Pinky+the Brain, Gargoyles, Pirates of Dark Water and Earthworm Jim all rocked.

Overall, the ninties. They had Batman: TAS, X-men: TAS, Spider-man: TAS, Rugrats, The Simpsons(when it was still good) and Batman Beyond.

However, the 00s have had Justice League, Justice League Unlimited and The Spectacular Spider-man. Most of what else is out there is complete crap, though.

90's obviously.

Sailor Moon > Shuriken Academy (or whatever it's called)

Metabots!:D

Old Pokemon > New Pokemon

Digimon! :D

Shin Chan! (though it wasn't technically a full cartoon...)

I realize now that most (all) of them are anime, but whatever.

Oh wait! Tom and Jerry! ^^
Everything here and more. It's the stuff I grew up with. I loved sitting eating breakfast and watching Digimon. :D

I grew up with 90's toons, ergo, they win on that merit alone. However, I have noticed that, compared to newer age cartoons, they were much more 'ballsy' in terms of subject matter.

A perfect example is the Freaky Fred episode of Courage the Cowardly Dog:

They essentially force psychopathic tendencies right down your throat. But let's face it: CTCD was about pitch black in terms of humor to begin with, so this was nothing special.
It can even be argued that Fred was a successor of sorts to Sweeney Todd.

The 90's, by far. I was born in '95, grew up watching new cartoons and thought they were great! Until I watched a show with some actual balls.

Let us not forget both Ren and Stimpy along with Mighty Max.

All of them were cartoons that would appease the Norse Gods themselves (or their kids at least).

I honestly can't say. I'm an 80's child and grew up watching the 90's cartoons. What little experience I have with 00's cartoons was a bit of Teletoon around 2001 and the occasional Spongebob episode here and there. I haven't even seen an episode of the new Batman series with Mark Hamill as the Joker so I can't in all honesty answer this query.

what the hell? I feel so old right now. I'm going to go weep into my GI Joe sleeping bag while I cuddle with my Snarf stuffed animal and sing the ducktales theme song.

I like the older cartoons more. The stuff now sucks, 90's were better, but before that was amazing. Scooby Doo, Tom and Jerry, Looney Tunes, etc.

Batman: The Animated Series
Animaniacs
Pinky and the Brain
Darkwing Duck
Earthworm Jim

Amongst many others. The 90's win.
Also,

Ren and Stimpy
Bobby's World
Rocko's Modern Life
Beavis and Butthead (not a childrens cartoon, but a cartoon none the less.)
Rescue Rangers
Duck Tales
X-Men
Tiny Toons Adventures
Centurions

Good shit like that, although Spongebob is rather well written and a good substitute for Bobby's World in my opinion.
