Something you're unlikely to get on DeviantArt, where people have a tendency only to compliment, not critique. There are other (better) places to find critical analysis of your own work.
Extremely true. I've seen absolutely terrible(granted I can't draw but seriously) drawings and seen comments of people complimenting it. Can't tell if they really mean it or just hiding the truth.

OT: There's really no purpose for it. At least that's how I feel. You already have the option to add an outside link to your profile as mentioned by Marter. So, no. I pick no.

Quick question.
I've only drawn MLP fan art (I'm so professional :p) so...wouldn't that be too much, like, crud for CA?
Well, it'd be a lie to say there aren't bronies on the site, but you may get nailed in crits for only doing fan art.
Well...when I say fan art I mean taking a still from the show and drawing that. Sans background.
...
Don't look at me like that! I only just started!!

DeviantArt actually has a ton of fanart based on games, which could really be a cool source to pull images off of when making a post in gamer Threads. But, aside from that some people really like their accounts to be checked out, and not everyone draws art. There are poets and writers too who go deep into gaming and criticizing it while loving it.
Sure, you may think The Escapist isn't really art related but Youtube isn't hardly about gaming ether. Facebook may go on everything, but Facebook's purpose was to chat with friend's and share personal information with each other (those you trust of course.) So, why not share your artwork or browse game fanart to add with your posts every now and then? There are many uses and though I can see your point, there's actually no harm in adding a link since it's optional anyhow.
Well I'm hesitant to allowing new features to come in because every new feature means another chance of glitches and frustrations happening, even to those who don't want it. And if we went ahead with every idea just because "hey it's optional" then, yeah. BUT that's not really a very big problem, is it? No.

Posting video game fan art from the site? Okay, that sounds pretty useful. I mean we can already do that, simply by getting the image URL and putting in the right HTML, but whatever.

No, Deviantart is a terrible site full of terrible art that doesn't need to be linked here.

I wouldn't personally use it, but I have nothing against the option being there. It's just like the Xbox Live link; I don't have an Xbox, but I see no reason to limit things to steam just because that's all I personally have.

I'd love the ability to share my portfolio here. It could be a fun community feature. Plus I'm always up for getting my DA page view count higher and higher.

Oh, wow, I'm really torn here. I have a DA account but it's only because I was trying to drive traffic from there to my personal page- http://deathbydawn.com/ I've written a whole series of original novellas and I do all my own printing, hand-binding and whatnot. The really good artwork all goes in my books or gets sold from my Etsy.
So the only stuff on my DA is either raunchy SteinxSpirit slash [presented as a writing sample for my other work] and drawings of them in various states of coitus-
Or, it's shots of my perk bottles and dolls that I made as fanart for the Zombie Maps from Call of Duty. And one really adult RichtofenXDempsey slash, [another writing sample].
Since I gave fair warning and it's protected if you don't have an adult DA account- http://domainofdawn.deviantart.com/ Just in case anyone is morbidly curious...
The only reason I have the account is for promotion and to have a place for the yaoi stuff I can't put on my usual social site. [They have rules against adult material, no porn allowed.]
I'd be much happier to link to my Etsy page http://www.etsy.com/shop/PatchworkLaboratory in my signature or something. That's all my original work, and since it's all for sale that would be much more helpful then my DA account. Etsy in general has LOTS of video game related stuff on it too. [And they also have rules about adult material. You can show artistic boobs, but anything graphic- the top thumbnail is always a warning that adult material is there if you click on it.]
Sorry to get all link-crazy. But I'm all over the web, except Facebook. I hate that site. Never had a page there, never will.

Not a huge fan of DeviantArt, just by principle. 80% of the userbase exclusively draws terrible, terrible anime, or they just take picture of some grass, throw a sepia filter on it, and call it art.
And heavens forbid you give somebody criticism on their terrible art. Then you will see the pure stupidity of the moderation and administration on that website.

Would I use it? Not at all.

But I don't see why those who use the site shouldn't have it here.

I'd support it but I don't have a deviantart account.

Really the question should be "would you support linking to people's DAs rather than if they would use it.
