You know what? I have no idea and it could be metal but since it doesn't have that certain dark sound metal usually has I usually refer to it as hard rock instead.The_root_of_all_evil said:I admit it's a hard choice to mix between Death Metal, Poodle Rock, Glam Rock and the like, but Heavy Metal is usually defined as strong bass and drums, dark lyrics and the lead guitar/lyricist duelling.
But if you're looking at Kashmir (match against G&R November Rain or Paranoid) and The Immigrant Song (match against Maiden's Run To The Hills) then you can put them as metal, Stairway matches to Bohemian Rhapsody (And Queen so are metal) but how would you define the difference between Rock and Heavy Metal?
I guess they're considered rap-metal, though I view them as more of a hard rock band.ultimateownage said:Is rage against the machine metal? I've never heard any one like them.
Sounds cool, I'll ask some of mine as well as I don't know if bands like Sisters of Mercy would be that, Gothrock or something else?Nazulu said:I will ask a friend of mine who knows this stuff and share his opinion with you if you want.

I found out their is no way of knowing what genre they are and it is all an opinion so you are right. This is why Black Sabbath make it onto hard rock and metal lists because it is their opinion and thats it. Alot of people even say Metallica is a hard rock band as crazy as that sounds, but guess what? You can't prove them wrong!The_root_of_all_evil said:Sounds cool, I'll ask some of mine as well as I don't know if bands like Sisters of Mercy would be that, Gothrock or something else?Nazulu said:I will ask a friend of mine who knows this stuff and share his opinion with you if you want.
Similar here. With Death Metal, Thrash Metal etc. there's very little way of telling anything apart from their similarity to Black Sabbath. Maiden is most definitely metal though.Nazulu said:I found out their is no way of knowing what genre they are and it is all an opinion so you are right. Agreed. Iron Maiden are probably the best example of great metal and set the standard, even more than Judas Priest.The_root_of_all_evil said:Similar here.
