I'm not too sure about having a Queen. She's very expensive to have around despite being a boost to the tourist industry, but if there wasn't a monarchy, Buckingham Palace could be turned into a tourist attraction, but I'll always be a Manchester United fan.

Yeah i support the monarchy and im young but generally i think they need to catch up with the times a bit. Irony is by doing what queen Vic did become champions of science and industry they may not have political power but they have the power to help such things.

Yeah, She doesn't do much, but I would think it isn't just for the tourism it also helps alliances with other countries because they meet the queen.

I don't really like football that much, it seems to be a waste of time, Why would I want to watch a bunch of sweaty men in shorts when I can go out and Play a Sport I like (Basically rugby or swimming)

Plus Im from Cardiff so I don't think the local clubs are that good.

Not many people give much of a damn about royalty, besides old ladies, the landed gentry, and nutters. Most people slide in at the indifferent middle of the scale, between aforementioned nutters and the slightly earnest republicans.

I'm not much of a football bloke, but I'll certainly check the league tables more often than I feel the need to check up on Princess Michael of Kent.

He's talking about local football teams. A lot of people's local football teams (mine included) are in lower leagues, or dont even play league football, and are paid very little indeed to the multi-millionaires of the Premier league. Just sayin'

Hmmm this is a very tough choice.

I like the queen and the royals. they are part of our heritage and culture and as people have already said, bring in a lot of tourist revenue.

However, I don't think I could exist properly without football, so I'd probably for my local footy team - whose crest is my avatar coincidentally.

Aside from most of the commonwealth still having her as head of state, there's also:

Andorra, Belgium, Denmark, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Monaco, Netherlands, Norway, Spain, Sweden.

There are also various Sultanates and East-Asian countries with monarchies, but those're the ones which you're more likely to have heard of.

I mean, Beatrice of the Netherlands was subject to an assassination attempt by terrorists not long ago, man.

I can't say I follow their every move, but I'm actually in support of the monarchy, if only as a rallying point of patriotism.

Football can go on a day trip to the surface of the sun and take Rooney with it though.

Neither but the queen over sport she makes quite abit of her money from investments rather than being good at kicking a ball plus shes read nearly every govement report for 50 years so she probably knows more about running the country than most poltians and is apparently a good adviser to PMs.

Also, I hate to be the one to say it, but what made you think of posting this thread? Seems kinda sterotypical to me (Hurr durr Brits only play football and obcess over the queen etc) I mean, we don't ask if americans love food or guns more.
