Family member. Who says I want "countless" lives saved? In my opinion we actually need an Apocalypse to cleanse our overpopulation problem.
ya but the apocalypse already happened so we need to increase the population.

Honestly, I don't think I'd be able to save the doctors. I couldn't live with myself if I let a family member die.

Well, you see, I would get a blow torch and cut my way into my family member's box, then get him/her out, then go to the doctos' one and open the door.

If I'm not allowed to do that ...??? Doctors, after all, it is always handy to have multiple medical proffessionals owe yo their lives, especially in an apocalyptic wasteland.
Yes you can and way to think outside the box.

It doesn't help that I wouldn't mind seeing half my family bleeding to death in a ditch...

I'm a terrible person.
By the way, if the Apocalypse does ever come around, I'm the guy with the Luger P08 capping creatures at the ABC store next door to the gun shop across the street from the Food Lion while trying to restock on molotovs. Extra hands would be welcome.
I will be there!

Everyone will say doctor to appear selfless but think family member in their head because that's what they really want.

To the point that we need another Apocalypse? Meh. Enjoy the silence. And being able to see the stars without five million kilowatts of light pollution.

I'd bash the "evil person"'s head against a rock until he told me how to disarm the bombs, and then take him with me to the bomb so if it goes up, so does he. If he doesn't give up the information, I'll search his stuff after I've cleaned the blood off of it, because someone with the resources to build a bomb has to have something that can cut through metal, and get them out the other end.

More importantly, why has he done this? Have I pissed him off in some way? Was my family member just the first person he grabbed? Noone would do this, ever!

Neither. I'd get the local demolitions expert to disarm the explosives and save all of them.

I would start by killing the one holding them hostage, and I'd hope he'd have a cancellation device of some kind. Of course, because any evil people after the apocalypse are going to be zombies, this situation isn't something I'll have to worry about.

How about just cutting the side of the box with power tools or something?

I would save my family member.

In the kind of world you are describing there are only a few people you can rely on. That town wont give a rats ass about what you did 5 years from then. But your family has your back forever.

Shoot the evil person and save both. I'm guessing I'd have a gun on me, even in post-apocalyptic England.

ok, but this is in post apocalyptia... how would continuing in the death help?
I'm sure there would be more than enough births to offset the 'possible' lives the doctors 'could have' saved. Furthermore, those born would be under the influence of current environmental conditions. They might adapt. Evolve.

Whereas the present population would no doubt be the leftovers from before the Apocalypse, still clinging to the old ways of life, still trying to rebuild the great cities, forests of industry, and completely unable to adapt their minds or bodies to the literal New World Order.
