That chip-thing was brilliant. It gave a choice for the player completely, without any mission markers on prompts to "DO IT NOW!"... Call of Duties would have crammed the chip in your head, you wanted it or not. One of the best moments in gaming this year.

One thing that buggs me - if you take the upgrade, shouldn't you also fall victim to the signal Darrow uses to drive everyone insane? Maybe I got it wrong, but doesn't Darrow use the biochip upgrade as a way to spread his signal? The upgrade was intended to give The Illuminati a way to control people and Darrow subverted it.

Now it made sense that I wasn't affected when I skipped the upgrade, but again, shouldn't you be affected if you did get it?
Megan gives you a shot to make you immune to that, regardless of whether you got the upgrade or not.

OT: I got it just for the hell of it, and it kinda made that fight more interesting. I'm gonna skip it next time, just to see how much of a wiseass Adam will act like when he's unaffected.

it was bloody obvious, ever since the opening sequence where they discuss new biochips being almost completed. by the time in the game i could get the biochip i was sure i'd play another playthrough so i took it just to see what would happen. second playthrough i didnt get it.

I thought getting the new biochip would be a major plot point, so I thought that it would be given a primary quest to go to a LIMB clinc and get one. That didn't happen, and I'd forgotten by then anyway. And I was still raped multiple times by that boss fight.

Nah, the whole bio-chip thing rang alarm bells in my head so loud I didn't even consider it. However, on my second playthrough I decided to do it just to see how bad it fucked me up.

I didn't "fall" for it, it was pretty obvious, but I did decide to get the upgrade anyway to see what would happen.

I was in the LIMB clinique when they said that the fix was done by implanting a new chip. After I just read every email in the Tai Yong building on my first visit where they talked about a mysterious chip that they had no idea what it did, but they were ordered not to try to understand it but just mass-produce it ASAP and spread it to every LIMB clinique worldwide. And that was still written before the glitches started. So yeah, I said no. I was happy enough that I could finally use some of those hints you get from the emails to make Jensen act a little less stupid.

I "fell for it" the first time, because I knew I'd be playing through at least twice so I figured I'd do everything different the second time anyway. Now that I'm done with my second playthrough, I'm disappointed that the minor glitches didn't keep happening even when I didn't get the upgrade. There should have been a tradeoff. Either "fuck me during the boss fight and then fine after that" or "continued annoyance through the end of the game".

Nah, I smelled a giant rat.

What I want to know is how the hell did they get everyone to glitch out. I never found out why in both my playthrough's

Sort of.

I suspected something was off. I mean, world-wide glitches followed by a convenient replacement manufactured by a rather shady company? Yeah... nothing suspicious about that, nothing at all.

That said, I still went and lined up for my new chip like the huge sucker I am.

Hey, at least it made that one fight a bit more interesting.

I think they just sent out a signal every now and then that caused widespread interference for a very short amount of time, harmless on its own, it still caused everyone to worry, and when they heard about the new chip everyone flocked to the LIMBS

I guess few people read mails. Especially when infiltrating Tai Yong Medical...the manufacturer of the new chip.

Yes, I did fall for it. But mostly because I wanted to do all of the stuff in the game, afterwards I realised you could still pick up the quest from the doctor without actually going through the procedure.
When she asked me if I had done a chip transplant recently I thought "Totally, I am glitch-free".
Then she takes up the remote and shuts down all of augments, leaving me with the thought "I am such an idiot...".

Ah, ok, I assumed it was something like that.

And Jensen does a really nice comeback when he's unaffected, worth seeing.

I totally did it....but I didn't want to.
I just thought....y'know.....it might help.....
Then I overheard one of the Chinese guys in the sewer talking about how strange it was that, despite being made by different manufacturers, all the chips were affected.
And then I felt like a retard - but more than that, I felt like the game allowed me to overhear him because it wanted to make me feel like a retard.
