If that's your source, then after a cursory glance at it, I noticed that it said at the top "published 4 months ago" which would put right around the time of CRTC's initial proposal of this sort that got shut down by the Harper Government.kek13 said:Link to said materiel: http://arstechnica.com/tech-policy/news/2011/01/canada-gets-first-bitter-dose-of-metered-internet-billing.ars
Not sure how reliable this is, It was one of the first things that came up on google.
Though that's true now, thanks to the current state of things that may not last much longer. The smaller ISPs are renting the lines and access from Bell, Shaw, Rogers and Telus, but right now they're getting gouged on the price their paying for access (which was the plan when Bell went to the CRTC last year) so the profit they make from unlimited plans are drying up.MaxPowers666 said:You can get unlimited you just have to not be an idiot. You have to go with a smaller service provider which gives better rates, possibly unlimited bandwidth and a good speed. Or you could go with the major providers which charge 2-3 times as much and is not unlimited.
I've heard quite a few differing sources, last week on the news channel I watch (Global news) it sounded like they were just going ahead with it.higgs20 said:this actually happened? what happened to the fire and brimstone shitstorm I was under the impression the Canadian public would stir up before they allowed this?
