In my school, you're not allowed to wear coloured socks. They must be black.

I don't care though, because I follow the rules. The only people who complain are the people who don't do work anyway.

Oh, also, coloured bras are apparently being checked now. Must be black or white.
Personally, I find that racist to bras of other colours. Oh, and I also think it is playground horseshit.

The sock thing is silly, but it isn't disastrous. Meh. My new Head Mistress is dull.

My high school had the worst security guards of all time. One was a drug dealer and they were all racist against whites. Dark skinned people would seriously sit on the benches during class and the security guards would walk by and say hi to them but if a white kid walked by with out a pass they would get sent back to class, or detention or whatever.

there's that kind of stuff in my school too, you're just butthurt over nothing, and it's not a qurdtion of 'gang relatedness' it's a question of respect... at least that's what I've been told, and if it's a public school, there probably will be a tip box like that, wheter it be to an administrator or to the police, it's standard... or at least that's what I've come to believe

OT: The stupid thing in my school is I have hours that are just "sit in a room and do homework"
but I am super-uber intelligent, so I have all my homework done, and then I have 70 minutes left to do nothing except play that stupid game on my iPod.
I wish I had that much time. I could do all my homework then. If you have too much free time, why dont you get a book to read. Thats what I do.
you are not allowed to do that,
yes, it's that bad.
Wait, you're allowed play games on your iPod, but not read a book?

Everything you just mentioned is enforced just as strictly at my school. And some things we have you probably don't. Did you know they took away cups for 3 months CUPS. But get over it. Take tht hat off, don't loiter, and stay away from the halls at lunch. And don't go bitching about heat. I eat outside in 100 degree weather here in AZ so it's not that big of a deal. And if you feel like your gonna die, go to the library. If you have a pass from a techer (Which at my school most teachers will give you one without asking why) and play on the computers or something. My point is get over it. It really isn't a big deal.
While you ot your cups banned we got our very bendy knives taken away, and the spoons (for reasons im not saying for fear of being banned), also we can't wear any hat, baggy black jeans (blue is fine for whatever reason), and no flavored water anywhere but the cafateria even if you dont open it and its in your locker, also you can't bring anything in from home thats being sold at the school (aka vitamin water).

Yeah my school is stupid.
could you PM me the reasons behind to spoons being banned? it sounds like 'll get a laugh out of it

Your lucky, in my school theres a 'one way system' in which students are only allowed one way down most corridors, this sucks because the only student entrance to the school is narrow as hell and EVERYBODY has to get in at the same time. also, say, you had a lesson in Room 5, but you just came from room 6 next door, you'd have to walk around THE ENTIRE SCHOOL to get to the room, you couldn't just go 4 metres to the right because OOPS the system only goes left!

Oh fair enough.

But isn't it easier to disguise a book as homework or something, than it is to hide an ipod?

we had to wear our blazers all the time walking around school until an arbitrary day when "summer rules" apply and you can roll up your sleeves and don't have to wear your jacket. this jacket is made of tweed and so if it gets wet it stinks of sheep piss.

your retarded rules ain't got nothing on private schools.

oh and we weren't allowed hats anyway, no reason.

hey, that's the real price for superior education.

I agree with everyone.

Yes, it's school, and you should just get on with it. Schools couldn't care less what students think or whether it's fair.
My student body once took a load of complaints from female students to the faculty after some builders at the school made very lewd comments to female students (some as young as 13). The school's reaction? To ban students from walking at the front of the school.

But I also understand your frustration. I used to get bollockings for my hair, make up and jewellery, all from a school that sold itself to the community on, and I quote "inspiring your child to be a unique and confident individual".

Just keep your head down and get your grades.

Sorry, but the hat thing IS justified.

In some places thats just how it is.
It is justified just because that's just how it is?

You know, maybe we should still have slavery, why did we change it? That's just how it was right?

Yes, I know I am comparing two situations that could not be more different, but this kind of philosophy does not only impede progress, it allows power trippers to undermine progress

No, that is not even close to what I was saying. Let me explain.

When I said "in some places thats just how it is" I was not referring to the school system I was referring to the neighborhood.

Some places with allot of gang activity don't want you to wear a hat because they don't want kids wearing gang colors and getting shot at.

On the bus for instance, it goes all around the neighborhood and picks up a kid who has one gang color on and has to drive thru another street and a different gang sees it, they don't want the bus getting shot at.

You might think that that doesn't happen but some places ARE like that. They disallow all hats because they don't know what gang colors are, much more simple to just ban hats.

Some "power trippers" don't want a busload of dead students.

I see your point, but I still don't think it makes that much of a difference, I mean, is not wearing the hat going to break their loyalty to the gang? And if the teachers don't even know which hats are gang hats, then the students probably don't either, and if nobody knows its a gang hat, then who cares? It's not like its gonna jump up and go "I AM A GANG HAT BITCHES!" and then shoot everybody

Somebody call the WAAAAAHHH-MBULANCE.

Has it occured to anyone that just because you don't know the reasoning behind the rule doesn't mean it's stupid? Most of the listed grievences are over petty things that you should just ignore and focus on learning.

For example the jail I sometimes work at the inmates are not allowed to keep the 'wrapping paper' that their toilet paper comes in. Why? Because it's made of a weird recycled paper that if they wet it turns it into an adhesive similar to paper mache. Previously inmates were using this to hide contraband (by sticking it to odd places. And making primiative tools. Also occasionally to attempt to roll a joint or the like.

So when an inmate asks 'why can't I have that paper'? I respond 'I don't know' because if they knew WHY than I arm them with the knowledge of what they can do with it. When before they were just thinking 'that's another stupid rule'.

My high school is pretty much the same. No hats, hoods, or sunglasses. We have our own police officer too. There are rules about no one being in the halls but no one enforces them. But really, I don't get what's up with the no hats/hoods rule! Some rooms are really cold, and I also really like my hat! Anything could be a gang symbol! I usually wear a hoodie over a black t-shirt. What if some gang started using hoodies-over-black-t-shirts as a sign? They couldn't ban that, there are a bunch of other students who I've seen around who wear similar stuff! There's a point beyond which it's just idiotic.

Also, a school near me has a rule that anyone in a fight gets suspended for 5 days. It doesn't matter if you were walking down the hall and some kid ran up and punched you, if teachers found out, you'd get suspended too.
