You can't mine adamantium, it's an alloy and once it solidifies it can't be melted again. Also Cap's shield is made of vibranium and some experimental alloy, not adamantium. Adamantium is a byproduct of trying to recreate that.this isnt my name said:In order to make that sheild, adimantium had to be shaped, and mined, etc. Adimantium can be broken by enough heat. Lightsaber wins.Scarim Coral said:This has been done before but to the answer to your question, I voted Adamanitum. I read that in one of the comic Thor Hammer can only dent Captain Shield (which is made of Adamantium) at best. So what chance does the Lightsaber got if the Hammer created by Odin (great big God) couldn't break it? I think the Lightsaber at best can only make a burn mark on it but not break it.
I always kind of assumed that the side-effects of using such a powerful tool are controlled by the force-user, i.e. the jedi/sith uses the force to protect his hands and maybe controls the light in the saber a bit, this is purely a non-educated guess tho, I'm guessing no non-jedi/sith is seen wielding a saber.Rednog said:In the movies it cauterizes, but I remember reading somewhere that in theory the heat needed to cauterize while slicing would be so hot that the person wielding the weapon would have his/her hand cooked just by holding the darn thing.gigastrike said:I actually heard somewhere that a lightsaber wouldn't actually cauterize you. I'm not sure why though.

Adamantium is still made of atoms. Put anything under enough pressure or heat and you will turn it into a gas. You may have to throw adamantuim into the center of a star that is 100 or so times the mass of the sun or a black hole but it will get it done.ZippyDSMlee said:Perhaps but adamantium is slightly different than most metals it has a melting point higher than plasma(it was liquefied through a multi layered process and grafted on wolverines bones), it also has some energy altering properties tho they are not well documented.
Are we discussing science in a series that has magic force powers?Samwise137 said:According to some of the Star Wars novels on the creation of a lightsaber, although the blade is initially created using extreme heat, the saber itself does not generate any heat of its own. That's why I cringe every time I see Qui-Gon cut through that door in episode one. Friction alone can't generate THAT much heat.gigastrike said:I actually heard somewhere that a lightsaber wouldn't actually cauterize you. I'm not sure why though.
I thought Caps shield was made of Vibranium, which is actually an alloy that is stronger than adamantium.Scarim Coral said:This has been done before but to the answer to your question, I voted Adamanitum. I thought it was an allow of the two.Gruevy said:Wrong.Scarim Coral said:This has been done before but to the answer to your question, I voted Adamanitum.
Cap's shield is actually made from a very special kind of vibranium.
/nitpick
Of course, the power level of the Gods would be more meaningful in a world where the Gods were consistently the most powerful beings in the universe. Not the case with Marvel.Scarim Coral said:This has been done before but to the answer to your question, I voted Adamanitum.
