Its pretty simple, all you have to do is look at WHY WoW got so huge. If I can see it, why cant the publishers?
Look back at pre-WoW times. MMO's didnt have quests or anything easy to understand. When you played Everquest, you went out and killed 500 squirrels to gain level 2. Then killed 500 pigs. Alot of dungeon-type environments were optional. No quests took you there, no NPC told you to go there, you just did hoping for loot. Only people who enjoyed this sort of system enjoyed MMO's, more casual type folks would get lost and bored and frustrated and stop playing.
So WoW comes along and says "Lets make an MMO that goes against all the accepted ways of making an MMO", and for a while they did. Original WoW level 1-55ish was very easy to jump into and play. You knew where you were going and what you were trying to accomplish whether it was a quest, getting a specific item, etc. The way they built the beginnings of WoW was the only reason I played it, and I imagine a large amount of its godawful huge playerbase can say the same thing.
But then Blizzard realized that there was a reason that older MMOs relied on grind, it keeps people playing after you get them hooked. So they tacked on a ton of grind and "traditional" type MMO concepts, banking on the fact that they get MMO-virgins hooked, then convert them over to grind-grind-grind. And lo and behold, it worked.
So the ONLY way a new MMO will dethrone WoW will be to do the same thing Blizzard did: Innovate. Every MMO since WoW that Ive seen (excepting Eve) has done the same thing, try to clone WoW, somehow imagining that by cloning Blizzards style or game concepts it will kill WoW. But it wont, because nobody is taking things to the next level, saying "Well gee, WoW innovated and beat EQ. Maybe if we innovate, we can beat WoW"

Nah, WoW has social aspects that no other MMO has, its light hearted, highly addictive, and fun.
A game with 11 million followers can't just die because one game (an overly-serious and boring looking one at that) comes out and claims to be a "WoW killer"

I highly doubt they will actually be coming out with a "WoW 2" at any point in the near future. in fact i'm going to be bold and say its probably never coming out. EVER. there spending way to much time making extension packs...and you know what...there working...there making PLENTY of money...they wont start making this legend "WoW 2" until there extension packs stop making them millions...and when that day actually comes there will be a grand total of 6 or 7 WoW players left. which according to most internet bastards out that " WoW will never evverrr evvvvvverrrr diiiii bish'ssssss its teh shiz" so in the end you're all fucked. if what you say is true and wow will never die then there will be no wow 2. it would be pointless. blizzards making PLENTY of money now.

well... its a new MMO that tryes to compete against WOW... but i dont know if its fresh enough to put down the juggernaut WOW haves becoms, i do know one thing, if i played WOW all my life because, well, its (in my oppinion, i´m no expert) the best of MMORPG´s can get a simil but with different settings and story would make me want to play it just to change the scenery
also WOW is behind a lot in graphics in my oppinion, and just for that i would swap to Aion.

Consider this; If they can pull of a 25 man - 40 man raid system with crytek engine.. How many people have machines which could run that even on lowest detail? Aion is the mirror image of WoW as you've said but I seriously doubt anything running on crytek will kill WoW.brainless906 said:
