ANd was proven in Lego Indy.
That man is using a scimitar. He is obviously neither a ninja nor a kung fu master.

From a gaming perspective:

The M16. Usually it is made to be the Mario assault rifles. No glaring weaknesses, with decent and easily predicted performance.

Real life, on the other hand: AK-47?? - who in their right effin mind uses that miserable inaccurate piece of crap. Note that I am not talking of the AK-74 and other more modern variants - I'd choose any of them in a heart-beat over the M16. The major weaknesses of the first production model of the AK were largely fixed in the later variants, but that doesn't change the fact that AK-47 had only reliability going for it - as well as the virtua of being an actual assault rifle among vanilla rifles, light to heavy MGs and SMGs.

The AK-47 was a good assault rifle when compared to others of its kind in the world - such as the utterly horrible nazi StG or the not-really assault rifles of the allies. But times marched on.

And it's like people don't understand that AK-47 and AK-74 are different guns.

exactly...

HOWEVER, this is in the gaming discussion section. So, in say l4d2 I prefer the AK to the M. this is usually the case in most games I play. (BF2, AK 101, lol)

Does it have to be a actual AK or can it be a clone? Personally the Norinco Type 81 is a more accurate AK clone. Either way between an AK and M16 the M16 is more accurate at longer distance so thats my pick.

He is a swordsman of the highest caliber in... wherever that took place (been a while since I watched that movie) and is the kung fu master equivelant.

Well, I would choose the M16 in most cases, but if we are going for the "Oh, BTW, there will be no supply drops, so watch your ammo, as thats it" than ill go with the AK47. Why? Most used assault rifle in most parts of the world, ill never have to worry about ammo.

There is no such thing as the kung fu master or ninja "equivalent" in games. That's why ninjas are able to utterly murder giant Gatling gun/rocket launcher toting robots.

Im sorry my M16, But if given the choice, AK47. Bigger round and simple Break down can mean all the difference in a fire fight. ( Ak uses 7.62 and M16 Series uses 5.56 )

P.S. Personally I would reach for an M1A
Bigger round doesn't mean shit if the enemy can kill you from a range that you can't touch him at.

The AK's round is big, it kicks like a donkey, its terrifyingly inaccurate even up close, its sight rail is way WAY to close together so even if you think your on target you probably aren't, the balance is way to far forward, and did I mention that since most of the ammunition for the ak was made in soviet puppet states a lot of the bulk ammo has a horrible habit of not fucking firing.

The M16A4 has an effective range over 200 yards longer than the AK, it uses a much higher velocity round so even though its smaller it has better armor penetration characteristics, and best of all, since the 5.56 round tumbles when it hits water (flesh is mostly water) it causes horrific wounds on impact and best of all the spring system is all in-line so the recoil is lateral meaning you have almost no kick from the weapon.

I don't take either of them. I realize that violence is not the answer and instead attempt peaceful negotiation. Then if that falls apart I use my character's awesome kung fu skills. Who needs an assault rifle when your whole body is a deadly weapon?
Wow. Just wow.

AK47 is really no comparison, infinitely better. Burst fire is shitty anyway.

AK47 due to the simple fact that it is the only gun that I believe can be seen as a piece of art considering how good looking it is, how popular it is and well... Kalashnikov didn't put in for a patent meaning that all he got out of it was the original payment and then a warm feeling inside from his creation being so popular.... and then a cold feeling inside as he remembers who is using it for what.

It's usually the M4A1, and I usually choose it.

In CS 1.6, you don't really have a choice.
