Over the past few weeks I've been watching history and discovery channels and got to thinking. What percentage of smart people (most of you) think Aliens or ETs exist.
This is pretty much what I was going to say. Given that there's trillions of stars out there, I think it'd be a bit arrogant to suggest that ours is the only one with a planetary system that could support intelligent life. I reckon the odds are very much in favour of it. As for cartoon aliens: nnnnnnah.Radeonx said:Given the incredible amount of space in the universe, I believe that there is bound to be life somewhere other than Earth.
With that said, I don't think that they will look like the stereotypical alien.
Considering that the three most common elements in the solar system (and thus by extrapolation, in the universe) are, in order of appearance, Hydrogen (70 mass-%), Helium (27,5 mass-%) and Oxygen (0,6 mass-%), this makes water the most common bi-element molecule in the universe: H2O.ultrachicken said:I'm having trouble finding the article, but for a school project I came across an article that stated that water has been found in distant solar systems.
With that in mind, alien life seems likely.
Hmm, although I COMPLETELY agree with you, aliens ARE a belief. Just how no one can prove that a god exists, and no one can prove that he doesn't. You just BELIEVE either one.The Maddest March Hare said:By saying "believe in" aliens, people make them sound like some form of deity. You don't need to believe in them, the fact is, they almost certainly exist somewhere. There's just too much Universe for there to be only one place with life.
