Yes

It's completely illogical to think otherwise. To think that we are the only living creatures in the universe is completely ridiculous.

I think that aliens (intelligent life) may exist, but if they do, we will never ever make contact with them. It's physically impossible to go the speed of light, and I imagine really difficult to go considerably less than that. And if you could, why would you bother venturing way the hell over here? Radio contact is also unlikely seeing as how signals deteriorate over huge distances. There are probably Star Wars-esque parts of the universe in which many different alien species exist in close proximity and can communicate with each other, but certainly not anywhere near here.

Yes, someone is simulating our lives after all...

Should probably explain that. Some guys in some university somewhere have done the actual math (this isn't some no one talking nonsense, this was in New Scientist, and a guy from a real Uni; and it makes sense) and shown that it's almost certain that the world we know is a simulation.

Reasoning goes like this.

Sims, very popular game, simulating a city. With time the game's getting better, more realistic (Sims 2, Sims 3). Carry that further (Sims 45,374) and the Simulation will be damned near perfect.

Ok so we have computer that can now run a simulation of a whole planet.

Now, Sims was very popular, one planet, one race, was now simulating millions of little worlds. Extend that with the above, one planet, one race is now simulating millions, maybe billions of planets.

The infinite nature of space means that if there is any probability of there being life outside of earth, above 0, there'll be lots of it.

So we've got lots of life. Most likely they'll develop in intelligence and build civilizations, and computers and games. Why would we be so special to think of those things.

So this lots of life is now doing what we do, playing computer simulations, except some are gonna be more advanced, so are running whole planet simulation.

If there's one planet running billions of planet simulations, simple odds means it's more likely you're in the simulation.

Hope I've explained that well enough, you can probably find it done better elsewhere. But yeah, odds are that our world is a simulation.

Um....I think you've watched the Matrix too much.

It's a possibility, but there's no hard proof.
i agree undead, you cant rule it out but its still too far fetched wtf

Given the incredible amount of space in the universe, I believe that there is bound to be life somewhere other than Earth.
With that said, I don't think that they will look like the stereotypical alien.
Precisely my thoughts - It would be rather idiotic to think that in countless bounds of open space and planets that only ONE is populated by some form of life and not even ONE of the others.

Given the vast scale of the universe around us I think it is impossible to imagine for even a second that we are the only planet with life forms on it.

Somewhere, yea. There has to be life somewhere else in the universe.

The chances of it being ANYTHING like us or ever encountering our planet within even a millennium are slim, though.

Carl Sagan did an excellent piece about intelligent life in the universe, I remember...

99.99% Sure that aliens exist. Not that sure about SENTIENT aliens, though. Quite possible that were the first ones to be sentient. In that case... dibs on the galactic core!

The fact that earth barely registers as a speck of the universe in the grand scheme of things is all the proof anyone should need there that is alien life out there somewhere.

Probably having this same discussion.

in all those F**king trillions beyond trillions times infinty of lightyears in the plane of existence (dont forget the size of OUR galaxy), all those other equally massive galaxies...im sure something has to develop along a path of sentience...whether here in our beloved little milky way galaxy or some unknown place....well, just think of the odds of there NOT being anything...pretty much 0% i'd say.
are we gonna make contact? the hell if i know...thus i can't give answers, do i look like i created the universe??

Space is big, very big, inconceivably so, and what a horrible desert it would be if we are the only ones there to admire it.

There are definitely aliens somewhere out there. Sure, the argument is that there is a .0000 blahblahblah percent chance of sentient life on another planet. But there are MILLIONS of planets. Eventually, that point blahblahblah is going to be reached. I do not, however believe that aliens are abducting people. Just seems kind of foolish.

The possibility of aliens existing is out there, we just haven't found it yet. Now, remember, I said possibility. For all we know, Earth could be the only planet capable of sustaining life.

I believe it to very likely that single-cell life forms (and possibly more) have evolved elsewhere in the universe. I don't believe the human race will come into contact with them any time soon, though. If ever.

The thing with extra-terrestrial life is that it is a mathematic probability. There are, however, a couple of things to bear in mind. Firstly, given the size of the universe, the probability of alien life existing near us is very small. Secondly, given the age of the universe, the probability of alien life existing during the same timeframe as human existence is even smaller. So, to summarise: Do aliens exist? Almost certainly. Do aliens exist near us and now (not having died out 30,000 million years ago, or still evolving) almost certainly not.

AKA, infinite.

It's out there. There isn't much probability of us FINDING it, but it's out there.

I meant the collective Earth "We". And yes, concerning Aliens, I am right. If I'm wrong, please provide evidence and I'll gladly retract my statement.
Do you have any evidence that they dont exist? The only way you could possibly be correct about this is if you have omnipotent powers. I dont see how you could be so stupid as to deny ALL! life, even on a becterial scale, living on a planet other that ours. Its just impossible. Sentient Aliens with spaceships thats less likly, and denying them is understandable. But and I quote:

This statment denys ALL life, somthing that is quite impossible.
