better AI, less stupid shooting mechanic, open world, bingo, game of the year.

Imagine if they allowed you to walk around in plain clothes on the streets, collect info on targets, and then plan out your missions?
It would be awesome.

Anyone else want it? I just finished the game, and I found it amazing. Sure its graphics could be improved and gameplay but its universe was great and I loved its convo system that felt your desecions really held wieght.

So What do you guys think?
There should be a "Fuck Yes!" option. I loved AP, and most of its flaws (if they did ever make a second, I hope they put a little more effort into the boss fights.)

I'm not worried about the graphic it's the bugs and rather poor game play that concern me. They need a mass effect 2 style change up.

Can't say I found AP overly buggy. Nor do I find that it lacks balance or AI briliance. It might not be ideal for someone wanting some hardcore spy experience, but then again it's not really a stealth game. It's an Action RPG. There was certainly enough action in it for me. As for the RPG part AP is truly unmatched.

It does seem these days that RP is about what armor you character wears or what sort of sword he flings around. In the best case the player is given a bunch of plot-irrelevant dialogue choices and the possibility of choosing between "good guy" type of behavior and "stupid evil" type. The latter is mostly about kicking the dog all the time.

That said, the game which gives you a much more sophisticated dialogue choices and the actual ability to influence the plot through them feels very fresh and revitalising for someone interested in RP experience and not just action gameplay.

So yeah, I would very much like another action RPG like Alpha Protocol. Whether it would be a sequel or just a spiritual succesor to it is less significant.

the world might just explode.

personally i loved the game, and i personally like "assholeish" characters so i found thorton an alright character.

same universe and setup? sure why not

be a direct sequel of one? no, no way

I've never played AP, but I've seen video reviews of it. Honestly I would say no, especially when Obsidian developed Fallout: New Vegas and that game that bugs as well.

Didnt play the first game, but i like the concept. I didnt buy the game because it had mixed reviews, but if a better sequel came out, i might give it a shot.

Nope. All Obsidian is good for is pounding out okay sequels to fantastic games. One of the times they try something original? You get the utter mess that was Alpha Protocol that only had one redeeming feature (atleast in my eyes.) The dialogue system.

The only way I'd say yes is if it was given to a completely different development team.

I absolutely want it. There's a lot of room for improvement for the game, but I enjoyed it greatly. Alpha Protocol's problems are so clear-cut that there's no way they could screw them up again.
Ehhh... I wouldn't be too sure about that... This is Sega we're talking about...

No, seriously, I haven't played much of AP, but from what I've seen so far, I'm genuinely amazed that it came out of Sega and Obsidian. I've had zero bugs so far (but now that I know it's buggy I'll make sure to save often). Thornton's voice acting makes me want to slap him upside the head every time he opens his mouth but when I get pissed off at him enough I make him mime an air traffic controller in the middle of a gunfight so I can watch him get pumped full of lead, so it doesn't bother me too much.

I wouldn't mind seeing another Alpha Protocol, as long as they clean up the lousy acting (which I attribute to a low budget).

I really liked Alpha Protocol. Just, if we do give the greenlight on a sequel, id like too change a few things.

One, Give me more time to make decisions. I understand that the game is trying to make a "real" feeling to it, but For gods sake, When im trying too decide between the lives of a politician or the people he's trying too help, I need a minute!

and For two, Mike Thornton. I loathed you. give me the opportunity too create my own agent and ill be good.

If they made some massive tweaks/improvements.
I didn't get the first one, but it certainly looked interesting.

Someone's thinking about making a sequel to one of the biggest let downs of 2010?

Funny how everyone says it was buggy, and I never had one problem. No crashes, no bugs.
Though Sega had to say this.
"Due to the less than positive reception, Sega employee Mike Hayes confirmed that Sega would not be publishing a sequel, but also added it was a good concept."

I played the first mission about four months ago and hated it. A week ago I picked it up again and it's growing on me. Thorton is pretty horrible, but all in all only one thing bothers me and that is the forced boss fights. As an RPG about spies I expect to be able to circumvent direct confrontations. That said, even with my stealthy pistol build I've been able to deal with it thus far, I've need a lot of first aid kits when closing to pistol range though. I never thought I'd say it but I might even play through it twice to side with different factions. Oh and Obsidian? Suave doesn't mean act like a douche.

You may have found it a let down. Not everyone did. I havent played it yet, but would like to. Personally when I finally do I'm going to ignore all the naysayers. Yes, you guys may say that you are trying to save me from wasting my money blah de blah de blah.

Bugs, well with obsidian they are very hit and miss. I noticed with Fallout: New Vegas that tons of people and the media all said it was a bug ridden pile of whatsit, but when I got it, played it, finished it, there were very few bugs I experienced, and only 1 was minorly game breaking (in fact, it only ruled out parts of a quest that meant nothing). Sure, crashes are annoying but I get those in many games, even CoD.

Secondly, I get the feeling that many people are playing games wrong or in the wrong mindset. Even reviewers. So Lately Ive been taking so called "Internet Armchair experts" opinions over forums (and even aforementioned reviewers) with a grain of salt.

Im also tired of generalisations, such as "Nobody played it" or " Everyone thought is sucks". Have you met everybody? No. (By the way, this isnt a reference to you I2esol, or anyone in this thread. Though I quoted you, dont mean any offence. Sorry dude if I did cause any :) )

Well, there's no way the AI can get any worse at least. The AI either made the game easy ("Oh, no! Someone just shot my partner! I'm gonna walk out into the open and squint really hard at that dude and hope it scares him...Oh no! He shot me in the head!") or frustrating ("Well, well, Mr. Thorton. It looks like it's just you, me, and this Jumbo Large crate of grenades right here").

Some people said that the enemies were just vigilant about wanting to punch Thorton in the face. I never encountered much of that myself, but the GRENADE SPAM was terrible!
