I have not. I'm not well versed in any popular mythology enough to write anything competent.

I've written various pieces of fiction set in the Warhammer 40000 universe before, but never put them on the net, so I suppose that's a yes.

Still, I've never wanted to put anything written by me on the net, I'm not a fan of my own writing, even if it recieves praise.

Believe it or not I create fan fiction every time I listen to a perticular song. Whenever I listen to a song I like enough I try and envision a story that goes with it from a book or movie, tv show whatever. An example would be when I listen to "I'm still here" by Johnny Rzeznik I envision a story of the Jedi Exile from Knights of the Old Republic 2.

The lyrics really match with the Exile's story and thoughts so I envision him coming to terms with his past and experiencing revelations as well as fighting numerous enemies to match the music.

Actually I'm not sure if that counts. I'm certainly not writing fan fiction but I'm imagining how I'd make it go.

Yeah, quite a bit. Mostly crack, though. I don't read much anymore, because people come up with some craaaaaazy shit and really creepy pairings. If anyone's ever seen Naruto, then you'll be just as disgusted as I was when I came across a Konohamaru/Tsunade pairing.

When Command & Conquer 1 came out I wrote a raftload of stories about it... although I was significantly younger.

One time when I was bored and I wrote a short story that ended up being about Silent Hill, although that was not my intent when I began writing.

Well I've written alternate storylines to games. Does that count?

I have. My own unique version of the Ultimate Marvel Universe. Spider-man was a particular focus and I even got all the way to Spider-Girl and her son Benjy Peter Parker.

I have, but they're not the sexual fantasy stories most people associate with fan-fiction.

I have, but it wasn't for the purposes of fanfiction. When I was in elementary school we had to write a story for english, and I being the void of original ideas that I am stole all the ideas for my story from a game.

I mean I couldn't write a story to save my life, so I had to steal characters, setting, backstory, motivations, and even similar type events and conflicts from other sources. I'm a pretty awful writer...

I don't do that anymore though, not for years now.

Let me just take a moment to get rid of the mental images...

OT - Yes, I write Fanfiction. I'm in the middle of writing an epic saga that subtly takes the overused plots and pisses on them.

I did, mine took the LOTR trilogy and translated it from the subtle leanings towards christianity and instead had it leaning towards Norse Mythology. It was fun.

I wrote a couple of humorous Zelda fan-fics and Mario stories with my friend when I was 12-14 years old, but fortunately, I never published them anywhere. I must admit that I'm a mental ficcer of sorts, I find it hard to resist the temptation of theorising and filling the gaps of a story with my own imagination. But even in my mind, I try to abide the laws laid down by the original work, it's part of the challenge.

I don't see anything wrong with this, it's just something that you occupy your mind with when you're bored. Thinking about an your own stories isn't really the same because it always leads to perfectionism and frustration.

I don't really read or write Fan-Fiction... I prefer to write tales in my own universes and Fan Fiction is a brilliant example of Sturgeons Law, since 95% of it is completely unreadable.

This, and I plan to keep it that way.

Edit: This as well.
