No I didnt disturb mummy remains or anything, but it seems like every time I post in a forum that thread immediately ceases to be noticed after one or two more posts. I feel like I have the touch of death on the internets. so my question to you is how much should i actually care about this?

Its the curse of having an uninteresting thread, but this one might be interesting....

HEY WAIT ITS A TRAP, hes making us post on his thread

Seriously, some topics just don't do well, or they get buried to fast

If this is the kind of thread, I can kindof understand... Dunno, throw a few high quality discussion topics out there and see what happens. Or make a 'Something something World of Warcraft' thread. That'll get you alot of views or responses if thats what you want *shrug*

When I put up a discussion topic, and no-one replies, I don't care, I've not lost anything.

You just need to invoke a conversation. Say something that get's in-under someone's skin. Say something about abortion, religion, or something like that. You know, troll. Don't be an ass with it. Ask people's opinion and they will comment.

Example: Abortion is wrong. Aborting a fetus is killing the potential for human life.

See, someone will likely say, "You stupid f***, they aren't consious!" or "It's the woman's choice!" All are valid points that can be argued fully, and likely will be, and will make even the most tame individual at least think about talking with you.

Of course, those types of things belong in the religion and Politics section of the forums. Nowhere else.

It doesn't have to be about controversial religion issues. It can be as simple as "Why RPG's suck money balls" or "Why FPS bites" both will recieve reaction from people easily.

OK thats not the best title for a thread, and might give you the banhammer.

Never use strong biased statements, specially if about delicate, controversial subjects. Instead, ask questions "what do you think about abortion?".

But threads can easily go unnoticed these days even if they have an interesting subject. Most people wont browse the forums looking for threads and will just answer the latest active threads, and because there are so many posts and threads being created these days (mostly because people still not use the search bar, I am noticing lately the same thread being created like once every 2 or 3 days) your threads drown quickly in the multitude of posts.

It doesn't matter if anyone replies- chances are, at least someone has read them. I've seen many a thread with an absolutely brilliant OP be generally ignored because most people have nothing to add.
Don't worry about it- I don't make threads that often, but only 1/6 ever make it past the first page. And I've been here a long time. Getting replies is not a sign of merit, but if you're not getting satisfaction on a certain corner of the internet, just go elsewhere. Its no great problem.

It's as I was saying to my penguins in a potato salad- Ya gotta think outside what people want to talk about, and be craaaazy (In an intelligent, logical way).
Oh, and joke answers to polls (Yes, even self-aware ones) don't help.

You've got 40 posts in 6 months. Your results are typical when it comes to forums. Don't you think it's a bit unreasonable to expect to be an important pillar of the forums when you post only sporadically? I'm not trying to troll or anything, I'm just genuinely unsure what else you expected to happen.

There are plenty of cases of threads that go unnoticed. It happens due to the influx of threads and posting that goes on here. Especially during midday to mid afternoon. Don't worry about it. It has happened plenty of times and it doesn't mean anything about you.

Have you tried rubbing cat urine all over your face? That's a good help for curses.
(anyone who gets that reference wins 50 thousand internets and twice as many cookies)

Its probably just a concidenece. Besides it is very easy for older threads to get buried in the rush of new threads.
