I've been reading the Escapist from the start - 12 Jul 2005 - Gaming Uber Alles.

I only registered for the boards in November 2007, but I've been "subscribed" - getting the emails - since 11/16/05...
the first issue actually delivered was this:

The first FULL issue I received was Issue 20, 11/22/05, Generation G.

So... who's the oldest subscriber? Probably not me, but I'm still here.

We didn't open these forums until 2007, so technically nobody could have joined The Escapist until then. (Though they could have been reading the site, and even commenting on the blog, without having an account).

The forums use the same user system that we've been using since 2002 though, for all the Themis sites. I happen to be user #1, since I built the thing

Hrmmm.. but then again... as IT director you probably cheated. You checked your 'joined date' saw it was somewhere november 2007 and then gave your IT henchmen the diabolical task to alter yours to a fitting 2002...

On a more serious note: was the Escapist alive in 2002? I thought I was with the thousands (millions?!) of people who read the very first issue online.. but I don't recall it being that long ago... wow.. is my memory growing stale now too?

Issue 1 went live on July 12, 2005 [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/features/issue/1] - the PDF is still available too.

Several of the people behind the site has been doing this for a lot longer than that though - Landslide was the first guinea pig testing our 'new' registration system, and registered a few hours after I did (back in 2002).
