I don't swear for religious reasons. I've no desire to, either.
Seriously? I mean, I can respect that, but it is a little odd in this day and age.

OT: I used to swear constantly, now it's pretty carefully moderated, though when I'm under more stress that does tend to slip.

Why the fuck can't you swear? Its no big fuckin deal man.
Word. Though I also feel dirty saying them sometimes, but I really dont care if they come out. Of course, I'm not going to start spouting profanity infront of a business executive or something, that'd be fuck stupid of me, but I'm pissed off with someone/something, or really stressed.. dont get in my fucking way.

..No, no you are not.

Yes. I don't talk about it much or volunteer explanations due to the rampant disrespect for all things religious around here.

And we also have a pet squirrel. Thought your avatar was SO original, didn't you?

Swearing is an integral part of my identity as a real human being.
I find it difficult to trust people who insist on not swearing or that swearing is wrong.
That being said, I avoid swearing at work and tell my coworkers to watch their mouth if they swear too badly.

You're not alone. I don't swear, for three reasons: 1) my beliefs, 2) it's offensive to many people, and 3) it's dumbed down the English language horrifically.

You are one of a dedicated few.

I swear quite a lot, I don't see anything wrong with it, after all they are just words of expression.

I swear a lot more than I used to, no idea why though. I still wouldn't call it excessive.

Hey, another one! I don't feel so alone anymore!

Dumbing down is a matter for debate though. Maybe the English language has been dumbed down by swearing, or maybe people were already dumb and the English language is merely reflecting that. Or any one of a thousand other variations on the theme.

Whatever. Not like it's a big deal.
I swear when I'm angry, otherwise I tend to avoid it because it's rather unpleasant having to listen to someone use at least 3 swear words in every sentence.

Well made point - especially point 3 - for some people it's used as a 'filler' in the same way as 'um' or 'err'...

I do swear occasionally, and don't mind if people swear with me, but if I don't know the person then I wouldn't dream of it. Likewise if a stranger swears with me I feel it's the height of bad manners - it's basic respect.

I had an interesting conversation with my Mum some months back about swearing. For her the F and S words are meaningless and she doesn't feel offended by them, but she has real issues about words like blast (as in get 'explosively blasted to pieces' - she was in the army), blimey (blind me), Christ (she's deeply religious); words that these days are pretty meaningless but for her they hold some significance. I guess what a 'swear' is depends on your environment... Which is why some people use them so freely and others don't... hmmm....

Im freakin 19 years old and I still say heck, crap and such. If someone ask's me what another person said, I automatically modify the swear words if there were any.
I am completely desensitized to it, me being on the internet and all, but I cant say them Sure I think the f-word and everything else in my head when someone comes in my line at work but doesn't know what they want to order, but I've never said any. I think I've only typed out Damn <5 times my whole life.
I've recently made myself say '*****' and 'ass' out loud to myself as those are terms and Im being nitpickey about those.
Anyone else like this or know someone like this, or am I the only one on the internet?

Never around family and pretty much only when necessary with friends. I find it hard to take people seriously in any form and every other word is "fuck this, fuck that." I do cuss beyond excessively with one of my friends but that's more of an inside joke. (we try to sound like the most stereotypical frat boy, fun times) especially when you start throwing in the more "british" words

Very rarely, and only when extremely annoyed about something. Not because I think certain words are "dirty" or anything, but because I prefer to use more "sophisticated" language, rather than sounding like your average uneducated fool with a volcabulary consisting of a handful of words. Besides, swearing on rare occasion gives it more impact. [http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/PrecisionFStrike]

But in all seriousness, i only swear when i feel the need to. Like, if i'm really pissed off or need to prove a point and subtlety isn't working.
This pretty much sums it up.
