I normally play a sneaky person.
Bosmer or Khajit: For the good archery boost or night eye respectively.
Stealth: Duh?
Skills: Marksman, Armorer, Alchemy, Light Armor, Illusion, Mysticism, Acrobatics

I always sneak no matter where I go, and I get that up to level 100 before level 3 if I level normally, so I don't specialize that.

And I also like to have my leveling a little more controlled, so I have Armorer, Alchemy, and Acrobatics, since they are more controlled and I don't jump that often.

Illusion for chameleon, and Mysticism mainly for detect life, which both come in really handy. So you can see exactly where people are a long distance, and be more stealthy when it comes to bright lit rooms.

Undoubtedly the sneaky person, because I just can't resist pick-pocketing. I tend to focus my build around that, and then still try to use the big hammers despite it totally not being suited to my character. Goooo tactics!

The Cheater: An elusive class, often using extremely powerful artifacts and/or hacked weapons. Often indestructable and of such high strength, agility, speed, endurance, and much more, are able to make devestating spells that reduce even the strongest things to dust.

Always using custom classes.
Nord-The Warrior-Heavy Armor, Blade, Block, Conjuration, Armorer, Restoration (Just in case), and usually Athletics.

Wood Elf- The Thief- Marksman, Light Armor, Sneak, Conjuration, Acrobatics, Alchemy, and I forget the last one.

I always get Conjuration as it allows very easy leveling, you can be(Unleveled, but prepared) lvl 10 before exiting the sewers at the beginning of the game, with a skeleton, a turn undead spell, and lots of resting.

I'm more the sneaky character at the very beginning, then I just dodge and weave until my foe's dead. It's a somewhat foolproof system.

I actually just put all of my skills as magic skills and did that. I didn't even bother with armor or weapons as skills, but I worked those up pretty fast. Magic is pretty good, although I don't normally play mages in games. I'm generally a hack and slasher.

Joining the majority here with the "sneaky guy" bit.

I've been some form of Argonian assassin in every incarnation of the 'scrolls. In Oblivion, I'd launch a few arrows into the foe until they were close, apply a poison to paralyze them, and then slash away what was left with an enchanted longsword.

In Morrowind, all it took was splitting open the back of their skull with a daedric battleaxe.

Ker-chunk!

First off try heavy armor, every set looks completely awesome ... save the helmets other than Dwarven and Daedric. Also blades are the best option, Umbra, Goldbrand, Mehrunes Razor, The Ebony Blade. All the best weapons are there.

Also I would say destruction over bows, arrows can be awesome, but tend to be a hassle, plus you get extra destruction abilities and passing through shields.

So I would overall say a battlemage with blades and destruction, make sure you include restoration for saving allies, conjuration for adding allies, and possibly alteration for shielding yourself.

Punching people to death in that game could be quite satisfying. That was my only approach to combat.

Heavy Armor with Restoration wins every time. I always run to get Umbra and spend the next several hours one-hitting everything in my path. It makes me feel like a hero ;_;

I made a light armored tank a while back which worked pretty well but I prefer my heavy tanks.

Used to play assassins a lot though.
