Kind of. Companies could be a little bit more creative in making their antagonistic countries. I would totally buy a game where you were a foreign agent/soldier that had to fight against the United States.

I am getting sick of seeing Russians as the enemy, i find the Russian nation very interesting with their MIGs and suchlike. I'd like to see a Game where either Britain or the USA had to work together with Russia against some other superpower. Like... An army of sickeningly disgusting aliens.

No, I am not any more sick of Russians than I am of any of the other villians, mcguffins, plot contrivances or anything else that finds it's way into the bulk of video games.

I know Russia and the US are still not that close, but come on, I'm sick of seeing Russians as bad guys in almost every spy thriller that's out and I'm even sicker of killing millions of them in FPS and RTS games. Dude the cold war has been over for about 2 decades now
Depending on how you look at it, The Cold War never really ended. There is just no need to make any more. We have missiles pointed at every capital of every country and enough to cover the world 20 times over with bombs. Think about it. Old enemy + Big Country +...lets face it. the language even sounds hostile AND not to mention we just arrested (WE as in the US) 10 or so Spys........ If you live in Canada I could understand the fact that its not attractive as an adversary and the thought is getting old. But in the US I feel there is no other country with A higher threat than Russia to us. And not close.....I think the relationship between Russia and The US is more of a.....ok...we hate you...you hate us...but the minute one of us shoots at the other, we both die...kinda thing

I literally couldn't care less. If anything I am more sick of WW2 games. That was 70 bloody years ago.
Amen to that... That's why FPS games have moved to modern day conflicts.

Where it is now always the Russians.

Yes, I too have been tired of it, ever since the start of this decade when I started to notice, at a very early age, that Russia was always being the enemy in modern culture.

I really don't care if Russians are the bad guys, but I would like to see a game where
1) The main evil guy is French
2) You get to play as an alien invading Earth, then destroy it
3) You are evil and actually get to take over the world, be nice for a change of pace
Doeasn't 'Attack All Humans' (I believe it was called) do 2 and 3?

Mind you, that's just one game.

One word, Revolver! Another word, Ocelot! Put the two together...

Revolver Ocelot! That's why Russia keeps the evil hat, because at least one iconic good badguy character came out of it.

Nope because when I see them in a movie/game I go "Oh shit, the big bad rusky is here!" Quite simply its become kind of a necessity...I mean when I see some action hero like Sylvester Stalone go up against badguys in his movies, I need to see and equally big bad guy if not bigger...and honestly you wont expect him to be french ^_^

No leave my awesome evil russians in my movies and games, they make it soo much better.

It is annoying. Especially since America and Russia would benefit way more if they were both on good terms, it doesn't really make sense that the American media continually portrays Russians as things to empty bullets into. I don't watch much Russian media, but I'm pretty sure they don't do it to the extent the West does.

If it was up to me, it would have stopped in films after Rambo III, and in games after Goldeneye.

I think it's just because some game designers have a crippling fear of actually having to put moral complications into a game, in case it messes with the delicate heads of the fans, so they just use enemies that they don't have to justify why you're shooting them. It's patronizing.

I want to play a game where you play as a Russian shooting Westerners. The only one I've ever played was the Red Hammer expansion for Operation Flashpoint, and even then, your guy has a crisis of conscience and defects to the "Good" side halfway through. Go on games, challenge me morally!

I wouldn't mind too much if Russians appeared as the enemy, as long as they were dealt with in a mature way, but all I've ever seen in games like MW2 is:

"The Russians are attacking, kill the commie scum!"
"Why are they attacking, what's their motives?"
"They're EEEEEEVIL!"
Technically you are a Russian killing Westerners in the CoD games. Although they are Nazis they are still technically Westerners.

Sigh, if only. The Russians are excised from being killed in WW2 games and films, as they were on "our" side.

Despite the fact they were more tyrannical back then than they are now.
Strange how the more evil they are the nicer they actually get treated. Well at least I think it is a bit strange anyway.

Indeed, i am very very sick of it. So in order for balance to be restored...we need to make a few games where Russia is the hero and America the villain.

I hate it because all they're doing is beating a dead horse. Now setting makes a world of difference, if a game is set during the cold war or WW2 it's understandable that you'd have Russians or Germans as the bad guys.

But when you have a modern setting, it's a different story.

Red Dawn was a silly and dumb movie back in the 80s when there still was a cold war going on. The fact they tried to remake that in modern settings just makes it insultingly bad taste (MW2 of course!).

I'm almost as sick of Russians as I am of Nazis, they're fine for a while, but they're being way too overused. I'd like to be able to wager virtual warfare egainst some Non-European enemies for once (The North Koreans are still largely unused, why not a Korean War game?)

Can't we have one Canadian or Swiss badass to mix up the recipe a little?
Actually I do have a game with a French-Canadian terrorist, Without Warning. Was an interesting game, controls needed some work and the AI wasn't exactly the best, but overall I didn't mind it.

Anyways, back on topic, yes I am getting sick of Russians as the bad guys. It's not like they're the only ones to have ever done anything horrible in the 20th century.

I dunno, but perhaps we aren't thinking outside the box. We're saying "but most other countries aren't a threat". Well, that is true from our point of view but there have been plenty of wars throughout history and even in modern times in which the UK/US have had little involvement. Maybe we should try something like that, it might even educate people to the fact that there has been stuff that has happened where the US aren't a major contributor.

The world is a big and interesting place.
