I really doubt they would. I mean, I don't even think FTL travel is possible, much less an alien race getting advanced enough to invent it yet still not believe in peace and neutrality.

It would depend on the Aliens. Naturally some may be hostile, but hopefully there will be some benevolent Aliens. Dr. Who FTW!

IMMIGRANTS! Driving around, blaring their raps and shooting all the jobs!
Oh god I laughed so hard

OT: If sci-fi films and games are anything to believe they all want to kill us. Except maybe that one race from universe at war who just thought we were expendable

Why would they bother attacking a planet that doesn't even have space travel yet? Besides, who says they aren't as suprised to see us as we to see them?

Extraterrestrials won't necessarily be bad. It's likely that if we ever encounter another intelligent species, however Alien they might be, they'll likely be like us. They'll have their flaws, just like we do. Conflict is always a possibility.

It'd be foolish to assume that any species is "good" or "evil", in the same way that people aren't just "good" or "evil".

I personally believe our relation with extraterrestrial groups will be similar to our relations with terrestrial groups.

Gawd, i facepalm at questions like this.

It depends on the alien, they wouldn't be ALL hostile or ALL friendly.

Most likely hostile though because humans are stupid and like to kill anything they aren't sure of. Autopsy? I'm sure the aliens wouldn't be too bothered about you killing them and cutting them open :)

If they have the capacity to get to our planet, I'm guessing they wouldn't be hostile, because Aliens with those capabilities being hostile to us would be like me being hostile towards moss

What the hell is it gonna do to me? It's feckin' MOSS, it's harmless!

No. If aliens end up ever coming across our planet, they'll likely just avoid us until they are certain that we have moved to a level of intelligence where we don't have religion or war. A lot of wars are fought over religion so until that's gone, I doubt we'll see any aliens.

Depends on what species of aliens you're talking about.
Humans for instance are very hostile towards everything they don't know and seems different from themselves. Often they're even hostile towards their own species.

Some may just want peace and cookies, others may want war.

But let me pose a question, what if we are the aliens? '_'

If we assume that such contact ever takes place, we can as well safely assume that there is more than 1 kind of aliens so pretty much it owuld boil down to our luck factor whenever we would bump into the good or the bad guys.
Just like humans who would encounter them could be a diplomatic type or redneck xenophobic type. Too many variables.

And anyways, who says that aliens have to be more advanced than we? Maybe by some odd chance we are currently the most technologically advanced race in whole universe and it is humanity that will venture to far systems and teach thme aliens how to make fire or use wheel :p

If aliens are already checking us out, probably not. At least those ones. They probably would have done it first chance they got, unless there was something they were keeping us around for. Probably an innumerable number of OTHER alien species (intelligent or not) that would like to eat us with great expedience though.

But if they are those humanoid grey guys we keep hearing about, they are probably just time tourists. Ya know, what are the chances they'd look almost just like us? Better chances if they were time travellers.

I said yes, just because if you were to come upon an anthill, you would either ignore it or step on it, not give it the secret of the automobile.

Aliens? Not usually.

Humans? The overtly violent and sadistic apes running around? Yep. And they'd be totally fucked in the process.

I don´t think there are aliens who can even reach the earth, but still, i think there isn´t a chance that aliens won´t be hostile, its nature to kill and survive, maybe if aliens `evolved` in a good world (instead of a Dog eat Dog world)

aliens shan´t be good , there hollywood nature is to be hostile

They would likely be as hostile towards us as we would be towards them. That is, they would bear no ill will, simply distrust with a tinge of xenophobia, and might find a justification for hostility if we have something they want or need, but their opinion on us will be divided amongst their culture.

You're the reason the Yeerks nearly killed us all.

Wait...

I say they're probably not immediately hostile since I better stay on topic.

Honestly, if they are the super-intelligent beings we take them for, they'll probably steer clear of us. Kinda depressing, but honestly, WHO KNOWS??
