Yes, but that doesn't mean it isn't fun. It's worthless in the sense that it's basically just recycling. It'd be like if they'd made it so you could play Call of Duty 4 Single player 10 times, but with each time changing something inconsequential about the levels (like adding snow to all of them, or maybe making the bad guys wear different uniforms) and then saying that the game was longer. I mean, it doesn't really extend the MP game any, it just allows the player to feel like the Multiplayer has more to it. I liked it, I liked starting over, but mainly it was because otherwise I'd never use some of those guns (like the M16).

Hummmm on the one hand they`re pretty useless ranks to juice more playtime out of you,on the other hand you get shinies........

Isn't that what DMC4 did, just make you play entire levels as a different character? They pulled it off, so why does COD not benefit from doing the same thing?

I never played the multilayer to much so it seemed like a total waste to me.

Never played CoD4, but on WaW, it's worth it to prestige at least twice to unlock 2 custom weapon configs. After that, it gets a bit old. If I could get exp by playing the zombie levels, I'd already be at the highest prestige.

They aren't really worthless, all the most effective weapons are really low ranked or baseline, so it's not much of a hassle, and working towards something is always a nice thing, even if you don't go for the weapon achievements.

yes, but at the same time no.

Because when I get all the gold weapons once I hit 55 and have nothing to unlock I just do it to give me something to do.

No intimidation factor there. Most 10th prestige uses M16 with Grenade Launcher.

Being probably one of the too excessive players of the CoD franchise I can't help but get in this same argument of the worth of prestige with the people i actually know and Kastor and Muffinman on xbox live

but all in all I think it has the worth of being able to play until you've got some kind of disease from never leaving the house, or for that matter even leaving your room. "Yes i noticed those hundreds of bottles of urine in your room. Oh your better than me? Since when have i gave a shit if you headshotted me or i just fucking blew your face off these past 75 times!"

So more over i realize that Infinity Ward got stuck on Modern Affairs and a day later found themselves strapped to a chair with a gun pointed at their head and having the damned CIA forcing them to make Modern Warfare 2! Yes CoD: WaW has great graphics and storyline but if you've noticed, we're all quite tired of World War 2 games and we always will be after the horrible storylines Medal of Honor has.

I guess i've got off the subject of prestige and have found myself ranting about the troubles of IW... to be honest, prestiging is only important if you really really REALLY want to be recognized by a bunch of fat ass nerds that even themselves secretly don't give a shit.

Yeah, if only Zombies gave XP...

I really liked the fact that WaW actually gave you something other than shinies (which is a valid reason enough). The weird thing about the whole thing, I went to Gold Cross in COD4...but I haven't done it a single time in WaW.

No not at all. It has a point. Its not fun having the best guns all the time, I like starting over. It makes it more challenging and fun in my opinion.
Pretty much this. It causes you to readjust your tactics, it causes quite the change when you suddenly go back to an M16 with iron sights no 3 frag and no custom classes.

Prestiges are worthless, however, for me by doing prestige it keeps the game alive so I can do all the challenges again and try different guns.

I think you're confused. Most bad 10th prestige players use M16 and/or noob tube. Most good 10th prestige players use a variety of weapons and strategies.

I never saw a reason to prestige in CoD 4. I stayed at level 55 no prestige and went for challenges instead. What actually ended up happening was I had fun with my favorite few weapons instead of trying to get anything. I have never seen a reason to prestige other than to get a new symbol. It really does nothing to help you. I get annoyed when people say "what an idiot/noob he hasn't prestiged." Who cares?

Perhaps looking up the definition of the word, prestige, you would understand their purpose...
Just saying.
Let's see.

1. the power to impress or influence, as because of success, wealth, etc.
2. reputation based on brilliance of achievement, character, etc.; renown

I really don't get that feeling when I see someone has high Prestige, but I get what you are saying.

I know! It sounds crazy, but they are out there. They're like shooting stars, you only see a few in your whole life, but when you do it's amazing.

As a 10th prestiger myself, I don't have a single class with the M16, and I don't like using it. I find the M4 to be much better...fully automatic > burst fire.
