Poll: Are girl gamers a nuisance?

I think it's awesome to see a girl gamer online. Gaming was, and unfortunately still kind of is, mostly enjoyed by men. So it's good to see that girls are getting into it too. Unfortunately, it's sometimes hard to distinguish between a girl's voice and a 13-year old boy's voice over Xbox Live. 'Cept that most Xbox Live 13-year old boys are noobs who think they're cool if the swear and trash-talk.

Gender doesn't matter, it's how they behave. And frankly, as a girl, the male reaction and the attention whore stereotypes are what keep me offline and playing with live people (Brawl doesn't count as you don't know who you're playing with).

I don't often meet girl gamers, but most of the ones I have met are resonable, so I don't treat them any differently. There just people after all. If I met a humpback whale on a game then I'd be surprised.

I, however, did act a little odd around a german girl gamer once, not really because she was a girl, but more the fact she didn't know english and she was on an english server. She also seemed to have a translator, because everytime I said something, a man in the room would begin to repeat it in greman, or at least it seemed that way. I knew he could speak english cause he talked to me.

Also no girl gamers are in no way a nuisances, it does seem however to be a nuisances to be a girl gamer if you have to constantly delete unwanted friend requests.

Well, I rarely come across them, but when I do think they're pleasant enough if your pleasant to them... though, of course, it always depends on the person.

No. But if they do behave like twats, like a lot of games do then they are annoying. Usualy girl gamers are hilarious and have great senses of humour. They are also usualy more friendly than your typical gamer.

Whoa there pal, girl gamers are not a nuisance. They are gamers just like you, me, and every one here. In fact, I find that most of the nuisances are guys that act like jackasses just so they can get our attention for a few minutes.

Let's make a distinction. A "girl gamer" is a stereotype let's say.. about 16, 17, eager for attention. Generally a pejorative term. People who game and happen to be female we just call gamers. We might not have the uh, dangly bits, but that doesn't mean we're a deviation from the norm which deserve to be pigeon holed with a phrase like "girl gamer". Personally I think it's a little condescending. I'm a gamer, I'm not a girl, I'm a woman. Gamer still comes first.

There are bloody irritating gamers of all genders, ages, demographics, yadda yadda. It's an individual thing.

Gamer girls? Sometimes they're a nuisance. Not them specifically, but the guys defending them.

Here's a real-life example of me playing Gears of War with a girl:
Me: *chainsaws the person who just so happens to be a girl*
Other guys: Hey, you little dick! That's my girlfriend! Have some respect!
*Guy kills me*
Girl: Hey, sorry about them. They're kinda jerks.
Me: Yeah, it's all right. I'll get em next round.
*I happen to kill the girl again, along with 2 other people, with a grenade. My team wins.*
Other guys: You little twat! I'm gonna kill you for what you did to my girlfriend!
