I dont have a credit card and video game figurines are hard to find around where I live

thats why latley I've been going on a CE craze because I think I've always liked that stuff but never had the chance to get it

anyway I do agree that other than the figurines other stuff isnt as interesting, as I said before I like stuff that I can "disply" it disapointed me they dont include posters more often (like I got a kick-ass one from red dead redemption which was a nice surprise)

I am considering cutting up my infamous comic (that I got with infamous 2 CE) into some kind of poster..(I love comic book art) though I cant read it yet because I havnt finished infamous

then again my crazy Ideas dont always go well......
The figurines can justify some people buying them alone.

I do understand why people would like to collect things like that my wife has a massive collection of bad taste bears and i've got a load of bobbleheads.

It's those type of people that buy the collectors edition just because it's the collectors edition or for the meaningless items that get forgotten about after an hour that I struggle to understand.

Depends. In terms of Arkham Citys CE. I can get it for £60, which is a reasonable price(Note, I'm not getting the game, so this is more hypothetically should I like Arkham City). Skyrim and Star Wars TOR is double that, so no dice.

I just noticed what you get in the collectors edition of skyrim and how much it costs

http://www.digitaltrends.com/gaming/the-elder-scrolls-5-skyrim-gets-a-150-collectors-edition/

what a rip off

Depends on the stuff IMO.

An example of a good special edition would be a collector's edition game with:

A larger box
Concept art and posters
An OST CD
A physical little knick knack.

All this stuff acctually makes it feel like a collector's item. I am not very impressed with special editions of games by giving out

Day 1 DLC
Items that give an advantage exclusive to the edition of the game (especially single player RPG games)

ok that's about it because they basically only give those things out + MAYBE an ingame vanity item.

Halo reach, Legend Ed, it was worth it.

I am looking at the Saints Row 3 Collectors Ed and The Skyrim Collectors Ed and I want to say to Bethesda and THQ, hey, look, I spend all this money for a collectors edition and I want my moneys worth.

Saints Row 3 - Really headphones and a artbook/CD...you screwed me over with the SR2 CE, no gun!...gimmie a gun...or least a tie, or tie pin, or something flashy.

Skyrim - REALLY I spend 200 dollers and get a statue (Dont know how big it is, but looks small, and a book...WTF bethesda, you better give me a amulet, coin, replica or some other stuff that make it actually worth 200 dollers or I am going to be extreamly pissed off at you.
Least give us a few more goodies.

Stuff like this I hate, dont give you what you paid for (100 for the game and 100 for fancy crap) Thats what I want.

I do not think I've ever seen a single collector's edition that was worth paying extra for.

Concept art books and posters are kinda cool I guess, but the other knick-knacks always strike me as worthless junk.

If i get a collectors edition i usually wait a month or so after its been released and snap up a cheap copy of the collectors edition. Worked fine with gran Turismo 5 and i got the signature edition for £5 more than the standard edition. Made my day.

It really depends on what the games come with. If it's just an art book and making of DVD and some figure I don't feel like it's worth an extra $20 or anything above that. If it's something that catches me interest like Catherine's goodies and I feel like it worth the extra money that I get it.

A part of me knows that that vast majority of Collector's Edition games just contain useless crap.

Like Fallout: New Vegas.

I got a deck of cards, a hardback comic, a making of DVD, some poker chips and the platinum chip.

It seemed like a great idea at the time...

I'll still get the Mass Effect 3 CE.

[sub]I never learn...[/sub]
Did the exact same thing, was all "ooo sexy deck of cards and these chips are pretty hawt! Hey nice a nicely detailed comic too, it was worth the extra $20" Now it's sitting on the bottom of my shelf covered in dust and haven't been opened since the first day I got the game. ; ; But they're so shiny that they pull me in!

I just love collecting the stuff that comes with it.

sometimes, collectors editions are epic

Although to me its quite rare, I have the Helghast Edition of KillZone 3 which comes with a helghast helmet case (pretty cool) and redeemable vouchers on PSN for maps and guns and shit, unfortunately a small hack happened and I lost my codes because of the time... I paid a 120.00 pound premium for that.

Still I got a Helghast Helmet, pretty sweet, but normally I don't go for collectors editions.

Depends. I actually have a cart open in another tab with that exact collectors edition sitting waiting for tomorrow morning.

I like them usually, I've pre-ordered the Screed 2: Rev CE. I'll get the ME3 CE I want Batman AC CE.

I think that Skyrim's is fucking lame though. I liked the DA:O collector's. It was pretty good.

I pre-ordered the special eddition monster hunter tri and dont regret it

I got the wii gamepad which is a must for the game and as a bonus I got the heads of rathalos and lagarius statues which stay on my desk at work scaring/freaking people out

definitely worth it but as a whole it depends what you get with the special eddition. I dont think i will be getting the skyrim package

It depends entirely on what is offered with them. For example, I bought the Bioshock 2 special edition for the awesome extras you got, including the posters, art book, whathaveyou. I'm also planning to get Catherine's special edition for it's original extras and not to mention Arkham City for it's badassery as a special edition.
But for things like the Dead Rising 2 Zombrex special edition, you got a needle-pen with Zombrex written on it (The same ones that I brought to school everyday, except without the logo) and a DVD. This is not worth £50.

I was disapointed that the Deus ex collectos had sold out....(did get the augmented edition though)
I may be wrong (I'm actually checking right now) but the Augmented Edition is the collector's edition. It also contains everything from both pre-order bonuses and then some.

Maybe if I have the extra money, which is never, I would buy a special edition. I wish I bought the inFAMOUS 2 special edition. A backpack with the sly logo and a cole figurine?

Sign me up.

PAL regions have a CE with a figure in.

It just depends on what you get. If you look at skyrim its more of a rip off.(unless you keep it unopened, its a limited quantity so its value will skyROCKET). If you look at the gears 3, its closer to a deal. I am getting both, nevertheless.
