Here's a question: how are children going to *become* more mature if you shield them from everything?LadyZephyr said:I dunno about that. I do believe very violent/obscene games do affect the person playing it. But then again, so do R-rated movies and the sort of TV shows you find on HBO and Showtime. Hence why wiser portions of society shield their children from that sort of thing until they are older and more mature.
The reason I put this on the game forum is because it's about video games.Apocalypse Tank said:1. Society needs a downfall
2. you are asking this on a game forum
3. Society blame videogames> forum users blame bad parenting> bad parenting is caused by terrible education
What Apocalypse Tank (awesome name) is saying is that you are asking a bunch of gamers if they think games are bad. That's like asking a Christian if they think Christianity is stupid. It's pointless.Blazing Angel said:The reason I put this on the game forum is because it's about video games.Apocalypse Tank said:1. Society needs a downfall

It's Video games' turn.
To continue, this issue has been discussed to death, especially on gaming forums. I don't even need the search function to tell you there are probably 17 other threads in which this has already been discussed, with all of the same points being brought up: games have ratings for a reason, parents need to raise their kids instead of letting technology do it, video games are just the current scapegoat of society. While I agree with all of these points, the fact is that we're shooting paper targets; nobody here is going to argue the other side. Hell, The Escapist itself has many, many articles on this stuff already.vdgmprgrmr said:What Apocalypse Tank (awesome name) is saying is that you are asking a bunch of gamers if they think games are bad. Poor youngin', gettin' brainwashed by them HOLO-grams... what kinda name's a HOLO-gram anyways. Why, back in my day and age, we had good ol' wholesome video games...RedMenace said:<in old man's voice> Damn those holographs with their 3D semi-transparent images.
