So earlier this week I purchased Fallout 3, via Steam, based on everything I've heard about how hard it is for people to kill the charectors without feeling bad. As someone who thoroughly enjoyed butchering civilians in many games I thought "This would be a nice change of pace."
The only regrets I had from Jericho and I shooting everyone who had a gun and mercilessly beat every other resident of Megaton with bare hands and then watching it explode was that I couldn't hurt kids, and didn't get a chance to show Oscar Schindler the sweet crib I recieved for all his disappointment.
Where's the feeling pity and mercy I was promised? Am I alone here?
Also, why pay voice actors for greetings and Idle chit chat only to have them turn mute when speaking to you?

I quite enjoy running round and just seeing how many I can kill before they end up ganging up and all having me as a target. It is a lot easier to whipe Megaton when you have the alien blaster :)
I bought the DVD version when it came out so unless the very first copies are different to now?? No i have no mercy or regret :)

What? Maybe your game is broken.
Also, we can't tell you how to feel.

I killed near everyone except when it would interfere with quests or just get me killed. Of course later in the game I had such an absurd excess of stimpaks I could easily beat Behemoths to death bare handed.

Well, I generally don't like to kill people I don't have to in video games anyway (I try to run past the stormtroopers in Star Wars games!). So it's not hard for me to feel bad about killing an NPC. Besides, there are some really legitimately likable characters in F3.

What are you talking about? Everybody is fully voiced in my Fallout 3. Yah, I guess we AREN'T playing the same one.

I honestly TRY to be evil, but I can't see a rhyme, reason or benefit.

Seriously, if I blow up Megaton, it'll be because I WANT MOIRA BROWN AS A SMOKING PILE OF ASH.

Indeed, it is a glitch. Same on the PS3 and 360. Occasionaly, they won't talk to you, but the dialog and subtitles show up (a.k.a They don't narrate what they say, but you still get the text)
ya, I'll have to contact some steam techies to figure it out. it's a real pain in the ass when I can't listen to holotapes

The only reason i kill in fallout 3 is for self-defence. I dont kill inocent people.
yeah...
except after I complete the main quest. and I'm pissed.
somehow, it's the small things that annoy me.
like the fact the regulators attack me when I have full good karma...

If your a merciless murder in other games, then you'll be a merciless murder in Fallout 3. Nobody in Fallout 3 is really that likable, but the though of murdering people, even virtual ones, always stays my hand. If you have nothing against murdering virtual people I don't see how the fallout 3 characters could endear themselves to you so much that you can't kill them though. Of course I is a bit disturbing that you have no guilt what-so-ever over the simulation of the murder of people. As far as I remember, everyone in the game who had dialogue had a voice actor (there was only a handful of voice actors in total, but everyone got their lines spoken).

Personally, I didn't like anyone in the wasteland besides the brotherhood of steel guys but I always felt like a dick when randomly murdering people or stealing stuff so I couldn't do it.

I felt attached to Dogmeat. If anyone touched my fucking dog, everyone would die within a 100 yard radius no matter who it was.
Oh and the Dad... but I gots myself some tasty revenge so yay.

Hmm. I dont really care about npc's.

However idont hunt random friendly characters. I kill if it gives me benefit of any kind. ( money, an easyer way to complete a quest, rare equipment)

I really want to feel bad for killing them but I kid you not when I say "The Pint Sized Slasher" was the most fun I've had so far

I can't find Rhyme or reason NOT to. the only bad part about blowing up megaton was having to constantly replace headgear if I couldn't repair it

I killed Three Dawg, it was totally awesome.
If it doesn't piss off the brotherhood I'm all for it, at this point they're more useful alive

Really? I never heard anything like that about the game, quite the opposite in fact. Half the fun is achieving murder in the most gloriously over the top way imaginable.[/quote

Yeah, like nailing an old lady's limbs to a wall in the shape of a body...

I should stop talking now.
