I'm alowed to but haven't gotten round to it, because last time they were actually over booked and didn't have a space for me. Frankly that's a good thing!

I read in a book that you can get it from doing the vampire stuff, but I am aware that books can be wrong, so I'm wondering if you're sure that drinking blood can't give you diabetes, or if you just hadn't heard about that before.
Diabetes, no. Hepatitis, aids, and probably 100 other blood born pathogens, oh yes. Drinking the blood of a stranger is a good way to get sick and fast.

No. I'm old enough but I'm not allowed. The combination of low blood pressure and a severe iron deficiancy means I need all the blood I can get. I went into shock the last time I had a blood test, who knows what would happen when I give up more than a vile's worth.

Plus I'm scared of needles and the sight of blood, further compounding my desire to avoid giving blood.

Orionche, I don't buy it. It's making value judgements on an entire group of people, by saying they're a: too stupid to use protection, and b: go around giving HIV to all their friends. I'm in a committed polyamorous relationship with partners I know aren't infected with anything. I am -less- risk than the average heterosexual man/woman who does not get themselves frequently tested and screws with random people without using protection.

This is -directly- akin to saying black people can't donate blood because they are too savage and tribal to have safe sex.
I'm fairly sure it all comes down to money, rather than someone hating gays/people that recieved blood between certain dates/people from certain parts of the world.

They test every single blood bag that they get, and I imagine that this is fairly expensive. If they rule out certain groups of people who are statistically more likely to have their blood rejected by testing, then I imagine that they can save a lot of money.

I'm not saying it's right, but the Blood Donation services (at least in the UK) are on very tight budgets and maybe this is how they cut costs.

EDIT: Whoops, forgot to say that I give blood at least twice a year, I'd give more often but I find it hard to get to the donation centers, the nearest being a 40 min bus ride.

I've been lucky the past few times with donating, no ill effects and I feel completely fine a few hours after.

Thought I was too young, but it turns out i'm not. Will probably sign up as an organ donor, but not sure about blood donor. I think I only just reach the lower weight limit, and also, I want to get a tattoo.

No, I have a "problem" with needles, and am therefore not allowed to give blood.

I actually donate my plasma because I live near a place that allows you to donate just the plasma twice a week. They pay you for it if you go in twice every week, so it's kind of like prostituting my bodily fluids. But it helps medical research and people in need, and I needed extra cash recently to fix my car. I donated at every blood drive at churches and schools before i became eligible for this place.

nope, I hate needles :( maybe I will at some point though, seems like a nice thing to do.
Oh and they can take all my organs and drain my body of blood once I'm dead, I will not need it.

I'm not allowed to because I have type one diabetes, but i would if I could, somehow living with diabetes has led to me having no problem with needles

I've only ever donated blood twice. Once in school because i wanted to find out my blood type and another for a church blood drive. Now the Red Cross people won't stop calling my house because they want my awesome O Positive blood, but they cannot have this blood IT MY BLOOD.

I'm scared of needles, so... no.

They can harvest my delicious organs when I'm dead, but no way in hell is anyone gonna poke me with needles unless it's absolutely necessary.
Doesn't saving somebody's life count as "absolutely necessary"? You seem to be implying that you will do it provided it's absolutely necessary, but in that case, when is it absolutely necessary?
With "absolutely necessary" I mean for me right now, not for maybe someone sometime somewhere...

Because I'm selfish like that. Also, did I mention I'm shitscared of needles? Last time I had to deal with a needle (anesthetic for surgery) I almost fainted. I can handle cuts, stabs, and broken bones, but bring a needle anywhere near me and I get weak in the knees.

Nah, too young, but when I'm old enough I will do. And on another note, I wonder what would happen to a patient if they recieved Lemmy Kilmister's blood...

I used to, but after tattoos, Iraq, Korea, and radiation poisoning, my bloods pretty much no good for the next few years.

Type O-Negative, and generally fit as a fiddle. It's practically my civic duty, as far as I'm concerned...plus I'm hoping karma will come back around to favor me if I ever find myself in need of some O-Neg.

It wouldn't work. His blood cells would beat up the host cells and start playing Overkill on their mutilated bodies.

I'm on replacement steroids (plus I have diabetes insipidus) so I'm not allowed. My father gives regularly and always has.
