JOHN RAMBO !!!!

On M.A.G. i realised that most players used no tactics, just rushing and die. A lot. instead some experienced players flanked them or lured them to open areas, so that far away, snipers and other classes could frag'em

camping is a legit, period. just like how any and all weapons are legit, any and all perks are legit, and any and all techniques are legit, any and all strategies are legit.
True, but it doesn't make you any less of a talentless douche.
talent is overrated. i'd rather have 50 kills and 3 people rage quit because of me then prance around with 3 kills and 34 deaths. Also, if you HAVE talent, then you wouldn't be mad at campers, you'd see them like i do, free kills. take out a few snipers with a pistol and then ill hear what you have to say.
Oh lulz, when I say talent, I don't mean actual game skills, but rather RL talent. Just how pathetic must one be in RL to use camping to get a high score on a game to feel like they've accomplished something?

Games are for fun, and if you camp because you take kill:death ratio even the least bit seriously, that's just fucking pathetic.

Camping is no fun. Sure, it may get you more kills, but it lacks action. "It's not about being at the top, but getting there." I use tactics as I bounce off walls firing rockets at people while I scream at the top of my lungs (in or out of game). Deconstructing brains from across the battlefield feels so...impersonal.

I would say yes and no on being a camper. I mainly camp if I'm on the defensive with a weapon that's not all that great in the medium-long range department, but I'll move from my spot if the assault's over.

Games aren't for fun... games are played to win, the only people that think they're for fun is those that either suck at them or don't understand how to play them.

Even if you play soccer, basketball, football or whatever with your friends you usually want to win xD

If you want to have fun play Singleplayer, Multiplayer is COMPETITIVE play...
You talk as if competition and fun are mutually exclusive... which is frankly bullshit.

Easy question.

If you do, you ruin the game.

(Sniping is camping by nature, and that is how you use the weapon, so you do not count. This refers to when you are using anything except a sniper rifle.)
Ambushing is also not camping. Waiting until someone goes past and shooting them in the back with ANY weapon is a perfectly valid tactic in both games and real life, and many FPS games are filled with hidey holes so you can do exactly this.

The term "camping" originates from the days of Doom and Quake, where someone would sit at one spot where an item that gave them an obvious advantage (a good weapon, quad damage, extra armour) would always respawn. So people would say "you're there so often you might as well pitch a tent", hence "camping." Camping is about exploiting the mechanics of the map in a way that doesn't translate to real-life gunplay, it is NOT about hiding and them shooting someone in the back. That's just intelligent FPS play and it's the other person's fauilt for not checking his blind spots.

Camping is also not about sitting at somewhere like a capture point and defending it. That's just intelligent defense that anyone with a brain should do.

good explanation. ive had some moments while trying to crawl through some grass on a map when someone walks past i stand up and gun them down. then i have to run away, because the position is compromised.

You could have just edited the last one into a poll or something you know.

Depends on what constitutes camping. Does sitting over the area where everyone figures they want to fight for a whole minute count? Otherwise, not really.
I tried and the checkbox to add a poll was not there :/

Exactly. If you use that spot over and over, people will just spread the world that you're there and lob grenades in it or continually snipe you from across the field or whatever. So in this sense you can see that hiding isn't camping because tactically it's not unfair. It's actually a disadvantage to stay in the one spot if there's nothing that the game is going to hand you for staying there (like a powerup or whatever).

I generally like to take around 1/5th of the map and make it my own. I don't just wait at the end of a hallway for people to come running out the door.
