oops I said yes and i prefer snipers sorry.
I rarely don't play snipers because i love to lay in waiting an ambush with explosives.
But If i'm playing a bog standard troop i move around a bit

well, this one time as demoman I sticky jumped up into a place which is where certain people go through to get to one side of the map, I then laid stickies all round the door there and whenever it opened I knew there was somebody there (lots of cloaked spies). I was accused of camping. I said "Fine, I'll go" and then I stayed where I was and just kept laughing. That's what you get fuckers!

Got such a high kill count that day...

Yes I am, although I haven't gone in years.
............. OH! You mean in video games.....

Still no.
The only time I camp is when I'm playing Engineer and my turret is constantly under fire.
OR when I hit a patch of lag and still need to do something usefull.

EDIT: Or, on rare occasions, when I'm Spying with the Cloak & Dagger. But to be fair, I'm a HORRIBLE Spy due to how shite my laptop is, so I wouldn't really call THAT camping...

No - every time we go camping, we end up forgetting to bring something, someone will get drunk, and I'll be kept up all night by a combination of the rain and my brother snoring/kicking me in his sleep. I did point out that the tent was too small to fit the both of us in, but noooo...

Wait, what was the question?

Camping for me is rare, I usually only do it in the airport with my M1A4-something, something, something - the assault rifle with the burst fire.

Outside of that one map then I usually sprint around like a loon trying to kill everything on the map that moves - luckily there's no random objects that will blow across the ground yet.

I don't "camp" as such. I'll patrol an area of the map with several ways of entering, areas of medium/high traffic so that I'll get some kills, move on, patrol new area. Not sitting in the same spot, constantly moving. Sometimes it works sometimes it doesnt.

I only camp when playing headquarters mode in modern warfare 2. That game mode necessitates camping. In any other game I don't camp unless I am a sniper, most of the time I get less kills than I would moving around.

I haven't gone camping in a long long time...

Seriously, I am no camper but I have no problem with camping in itself. However, camping in MW2 pisses me off anyway because of the horrid map design.
This and the akimbo shotguns that mean even if you know where the guy is, you can't kill them unless you throw explosives indirectly (e.g. bouncing a grenade off a wall). This makes them simply ridiculous tools for people camping doorways.

As well as that, camping is far more realistic. It annoys me in "realistic" games that you have the players running around like ADHD suffering road runners. Any real soldier would be taking cover and trying to return fire and use tactical advances.
And we have a winner.

I don't have a problem with people who want to wait in a spot for a minute or two if they know someone is goiong to run by, but I can't stand those who stay in one spot for the entire game. I once played a game where halfway through the timer we were up by two kills and the entire enemy team was camping, so as one we all just stayed away from their camping spot and waited. The enemy team were so dumb they waited out the clock and we won.

Easy question.

If you do, you ruin the game.

(Sniping is camping by nature, and that is how you use the weapon, so you do not count. This refers to when you are using anything except a sniper rifle.)

I have a lot of time in online shooters. I know the percentage of Campers to Players. (Camping is not playing the game.)

So just be honest.

----------------

I hate camping. I run around, usually with my Vector. Just went 31-11 in hardcore TDM a little while ago.

Sorry about the 2 posts if you see both. I forgot the poll.
Add a sometimes Option.

For example, only when I'm sniping. I'll find a spot and stay there killing people. Even then I'm probably pretty mobile, because when i shoot i think they saw me and move to a different spot. Other than that, i run and gun.

No, I don't camp, but it's part of the game, and it doesn't break any rules. If you get killed by a camper, you know where your next kill is hiding. Hacking ruins the game, because it's playing outside the established rules. If you don't like camping, then perhaps you should find a game where everyone plays by your specifications of what "the game" is.

Or maybe you could just get back to playing instead of creating threads in which you whine like a 4 year-old girl.

IW has done an extremely good job of creating maps where every spot has multiple entry points, so you can't just watch one door like you can in some other fps's. I find that people who expend a lot of energy complaining about campers are the same people who use a lot of profanity and racial and homophobic slurs. Usually they're confusing "camping" with "beating them", too. One time I killed a guy 7 times in one match, each time in a different place. He accused me of camping, then questioned my sexuality and told me I was an unintelligent racial minority (paraphrasing, of course). Behavior like that does more to sour the experience for the vast majority of players than sitting in one place does, but considering the fact that you included a brag about your 31-11 game (as if anybody, anywhere cares) in this thread, I'm guessing you don't care about confirming newcomers' opinions that we're all a bunch of lewd retards.

I'm still just blown away that you actually created this thread. Thanks, though. It let me vent about people like you.

I roam and ambush.

-moving...moving....moving. sit still....listen.....ok moving again....moving....shoot a dude...reload, take cover and wait....wait....kill some dude who ran by and heard the shots fired....moving again.

etc

common sense dictates that when u kill a dude at point X, when he respawns at point Y, he heads to point X since he thinks you'll be there.

If the opposing team is on a winning spree, I've only had money for an MP5 (yes, that's Counterstrike I'm talking about), and I'm sure the opposing team has AK47/m4a1 or better, I see nothing wrong with camping. Better to take a kill the lame way than to rush and get a headshot before you can even react. That being said, I only camp for up to a minute and a half, anymore and it gets too boring.
