I'm a dog person and frankly, I fucking hate cats.
A question to cat owners: We train dogs to shit outside, so why do you let your cat shit in a box inside of your house? Doesn't make sense to me.
Why do people who own rabbits, ferrets, guinea pigs, etc. let their pet poop in a box that's indoors, huh?

Anyway, I'm not really that much of a cat person anymore (I've owned and taken care of both cats and dogs with my family), I'm more of an every-animal-except-dog kind of person. I do have a cat right now as well, but most of my pets are invertebrates and I'm planning to make this the last cat I own before I switch over to birds as my "main" pets.

Edit: Correction, I sort of misread the post.

Doesn't answer my question as to why you would allow an animal shit in your house.

Dogs seem to needy. Cats are just damn cool. My old one had a metal leg and spent his later days beating up dogs twice his size.
You had to earn his love, feeding him, cleaning his bowl, cleaning hairs of stuff, all tasks that he would watch you do, as if testing you. However, if you woke up with him on the foot of your bed, or if he snuggled onto your lap, you knew you had earned that love. Awesome feeling.
Dogs? Meh. Their love requires no effort. Feels too easy.

Because I'm an animal (Homo sapiens sapiens) and I shit in the house. Outhouses went out of style a while ago, we have toilets inside nowadays you see.

Some cats (not all) and other pets have difficulties using toilets designed for humans, therefore they have toilets specifically designed for them and they often work. The only inconvenience is that they're usually not flushable.

Ever since I was very young and watched "The Adventures of Milo & Otis" I have loved them both equally. I really love how my current cats and dog think they are family since we got them as babies and raised them to play with each other.

Waking up on a cold morning with toasty warm feet, buried under a pile of sleeping kitty and puppy... that's a good morning.

So your cat is better than you? Alright, I think I get it.

Dogs and cats are both pretty cool honestly, but.. just.. cats kind of weird me out sometimes. I can't really explain why to be honest.

I'm gonna answer this not as "Are a Cat or Dog PET person" but instead as "If you were in the Philip Pullman 'His Dark Materials' trilogy (or, the lame'ified Golden Compass movie, if you will) would you're daemon be a cat or a dog? (given those are the only choices)"
Then it becomes interesting. It probably would be a cat, cause i'm super lazy, slow and generally cat-like. But i'd want it to be a dog, cause dogs generally seem friendlier to me. but Pan was a cat for most of the first book and he seemed friendly enough so, it can't be that bad.
