Cat person. Dogs are annoying, often unpredictable and sometimes deadly. I run into both on a regular basis at work, the cats either just watch me pass or come running at me for some attention. With dogs I suppose it depends on the dog but 9/10 that I encounter are barking, smelling, aggressive creatures though perhaps its just the area I live in.

Oh and if you own a dog, especially a large one, don't tell me that:
A. Your dog isn't like other dogs and wouldn't hurt a fly.
B. Your dog just wants to play.
C. Your dog is all bark and no bite.

Especially when its actively snarling and foaming at the mouth, it amazes me how many people will be holding their dog back as it lunges at me, barking, snarling and all the crazy shit they do and yet still insist that it wont hurt me.

Yes. But if you're gonna make me choose then dogs because they're more interactive. Hanging out with a cat is like hanging out with a stoner. Or a piece of furniture.

My opinion of cats vs. dogs:

Dog's thought process: you feed me, you groom me, you pet me, you love me. You mus be a god.

Cat's thought process: you feed me, you groom me, you pet me, you love me. I must be a god.

I prefer my pets to be more grateful to have me. A cat has nothing on a dog who runs greet you follows you around just so it can be with you.

This is why I prefer small dogs. They tend to be more docile from my experience. Also, big dogs are higher maintenance and live shorter lives. I will say this though, in the case of dogs being aggressive or attacking people, it's usually the case of a shitty owner. That being said, I would never take the risk of owning something like a Pitbull. I'll stick to my loving Beagle. Sure they're stupid and have trouble obeying more complex commands, but they are very docile and love to play. That's my kind of a pet.

I love the fact that dogs are loyal and can be taught to be useful in a variety of ways but I am hands down a cat person.

Dogs were more or less forcibly domesticated in times of yore from wolves and or maybe coyotes. Cats saw that our grain stored were drawing rodents in large numbers and invited themselves into our lives. They domesticated themselves and we let them because they helped solve a problem for us. That...is...awesome. They suit my personality and lifestyle better. They can take care of themselves when I am at work. they are happy to see me when I am at home and you have to earn your place with them. Cats never lose the wild edge that they were born with. Even the fattest laziest house cat can survive on it's own if in the wild. The same cannot be said of the majority of dogs.

No contest.

I like some dogs but they intimidate me pretty easily, so I go with cats.

I'm not overreacting when I say that my cats actually kept me alive. Anyone who tells me that they're careless critters is totally talking out of their ass.

Definitely a cat person. I grew up in a house of cats, and have almost always had at least three.

The only dog I'd ever entertain the thought of owning is a Corgi. Who wouldn't want their own real life Ein?

Gotta agree with you here. When I finally got settled into my new place, I didn't have a cat but once I him, I genuinely felt better over all. Less stress, less worry, less general badness. For that, my little buddy is amazing.

P.S. Awesome name you've got there.

Dog person, I intensely dislike cats. I do not care for their "independent nature", I also do not care for their urge to slaughter birds around my house just for their entertainment. Having to consciously suppress an alergic reaction every time a cat is around is also a pretty important factor.

I love both, but I have two cats and am more inclined to them. When they show affection, you feel like you truly earned it. And I like their sleepy nature - I'm not a fan of loud, energetic things.

Dog person, I especially like Corgi and Huskies, they are simply adorable. Some examples:

PS: I do realize the second is not a Corgi (or maybe it is? can't tell).

Always had cats, for as long as I know. We also had a dog when I was little, but basically my mother didn't want one in the house anymore after he died from old age.

Have to admit that I got a big scare by dogs as well as a kid, when my uncle's hunting dog (a huge labrador) jumped me and knocked me to the ground (not because it meant ill, but still).

I have no problems with dogs, but I've always been able to "feel" cats better.

The most extraordinary relationship I've ever had with an animal was with a shy, wild cat. One day I found her in the backyard, we stared at each other for what must have been more than an hour. After that she came over to me and behaved totally tame.

The cat followed me around everywhere she possibly could and always came to greet me whenever I got home. So such a thing is not limited to dogs.

I picked dogs, but I'm pretty meh all around. I have 1 dog and 1 cat. I adore them both, but they were both an accident. Rocky(the dog) was a puppy that stayed at a center for troubled girls. They were abusing him, so one day when I came home, my husband said, "Surprise, we have a dog!" Anders(the kitten) was just as unexpected. I had a dentist appointment the day I found him, but as I was getting into my Van I heard a meow. I looked under and there he was, completely covered in mud.

Tough like them both, understand this I do like felines for being so well feline like. They don't REQUIRE us to be around.. but their choice to stay even for selfish reasons is pretty nice. Allot of things we see as "aww she loves us" is not about love but about ownership, getting food and more.

So dogs, mmm don't have much experience with them. I am sure some of them are really awesome and they tend to make decent companions. Of course they are not full grown mentally, in a wild wolf pack at a point it is expected they pick up their load and do things for the pack, we keep them mentally in puppy stage.

So why do I not call dogs out .. well I owned rats. They are called the dog in a pocket, they are small cute furry animals that are smart, social and love to be with their owner. And I mean it VERY social, rats are one of those animals that if you are sick and yet you take them out of the cage will try to make you feel better. Most small pets are hardly social..even less to humans. Rats are highly social also to their humans.

So I like certain things about dogs/rats .. but I like how cats are so free. And you don't have to keep so much attention on them. Hell cats don't even have a word for goodbye..they just walk off.

I grew up with cats, dogs, rats and guinea pigs. I love my dogs, and I love my cats, and I love my rats. They're all family.

So am I a cat or a dog person?
Yes. Yes I am.

I don't mind either but I wouldn't want one either.
I much prefer my cute little tarantula, Mephala. :3
