Cats since I'm too lazy to take a dog out for a walk and cat used a kitty litter (yes I know some don't). Yes I would still have to clean it up but at least cat has their own toilet to used.
My cats use my toilet and flush it! LOL No mess to clean up.
Just search youtube " toilet training cat" and you will find many different methods. It is actually really easy to do. I used the method where I just elevated cat box until I put a pan on it with a hole in the middle, then made the hole bigger until I removed it entirely. Get a handle where you can tie some sisal rope to it and show them to scratch that after and they will flush it too!

I'm alright with cats, but dogs are my favorite. Most canine companions in video games get named after my mutt.

I do miss my bearded dragons, though.

I am a dog person. There are just some things dogs will do that cats won't. I can play fetch with a dog, or go for walks. I do appreciate cats. They keep mice away, and they generally take care of their business in a neat and orderly way. However in the end I would rather have a pet that I can play with and train.
Cats are easily trained. My cats jump through hoops, fetch, balance balls in paws, use the toilet and flush it, set traps, bat down anything you throw at them, sit, walk a rope, play dead and flip. They are countless hours of entertainment. Most the time they just do this stuff on their own anyhow. They do like to do tricks with you though too. They love to play. They come up with their own tricks. The one who started making traps and tying things up did it on his own. He was setting traps for his brothers to make things fall on them. It was too funny.

Dogs. I have no problem with cats, but I just grew up with dogs, and they were and are some of the best friends and family members I've had. Regardless of when my parents' first dog mauled me on my 1st birthday.

I tend to like dogs more often than I do cats, but I wouldn't say I prefer either one over the other.

I like both but if I had to choose I would say I'm a cat person. But we have four dogs and five cats on our farm. As well as a couple wild-pet rabbits.

A cat person myself, but I have nothing against dogs.
As long as they keep their distance a bit.
Which they don't.

Dogs for sure. Dogs are excited about everything, they're just so much fun to be around. I've never been inclined to own a cat but I don't dislike them.

I like both, but I guess there might be more cats than dogs that I really get along with.
That said, my little pit bull is my favorite, then my cat, then the other dogs....

I've always had cats, so I guess a cat person. I love dogs too though, the bigger the better. But I don't have a house or yard big enough for a dog, nor do I have the time.

Although for a couple of years I lived without pets, and I have to admit I liked it better. My parents recently moved cross country so they left our old cat with us. I love him with all my heart, but our Nick is an absolute asshole.
4am wake up calls daily. If we close the bedroom door, he will scratch at it and yowl until he throws up. He throws up for attention, and he will always make sure he throws up on shoes if he can, or a rug if not, even when there's linoleum or wood right under his feet, he will walk to shoes or a rug holding in the vomit until he reaches them.

I miss sleeping the whole night through. I miss not worrying about him constantly, as he's 16 and has medical problems. I miss my house not smelling like a litter box, even though I clean it constantly.

although personally I'd still go with a rabbit over a cat in those situations since they're similarly clean (use a litterbox, lick their paws, etc) but still more of a social animal.
rabbits are not as clean as you think, mine had a litterbox, didn't use it and pooed everywhere, he is an outside bunny, extremely cute but by god he can fit and turn his food, I've never seen an animal so small eat and poo so much.
That sounds more like a training matter and not a general rabbit thing. Growing up, I had rabbits and they were very reliable about using the box - I volunteered with rabbit rescue for a couple of years as well, and while a lot of the bunnies came in stinking, it was usually because they were kept in too small of a space and urine had soaked into their fur. Usually after a good bath and a couple of weeks of training they stayed fairly clean (with the exception of angoras that required grooming, and non-neutered males who spray, of course).

When I was a kid we even took road trips with our rabbits, and they certainly didn't smell any more than a dog or cat - and after a few hours in an enclosed space there's no way the stink would have been hidden if it were that strong.

I like both. I've had a cat that was actually older than myself. And now I have a rather awesome dog.

On a side note: Cats aren't always silent. My cat was partially deaf, and so she had to meow louder in order to hear herself. The sound was deafening.
So are you trying to say that cats are not silent when partially deaf. Ok, so? They are also not silent when throwing them in a bath tub or spraying them with a water hose, what's your point?
Well... There are some pepole who think that all cats are quiet...

I admit. That was pretty stupid.

I'm more of a dog person myself but I like them only a little more than cats. I have two dogs and a cat at the moment and I love them all equally. If I were to start living on my own I would most likely get a cat first since they are easier to manage but at heart I love dogs more.
