My family didn't have a computer when I was a kid, yet we did have some hand-me-down consoles. Sony and Nintendo got me while I was young.

PC. My system pounds all games into the dust and I mod everything.
And I like the community and tend to surf the web and listen to music while I game.

Consoles for me: they're easier to use, the controls feel better (to me anyways), and I don't have to pay ridiculous amounts of money to get the best out of them.

Plus, I have a badass HDTV with a sweet surround sound setup, so I couldn't very well abandon that, now could I?

You don't really need to pay "ridiculous amounts of money" for computers as long as you know what you're doing. Yeah, you could pay $3,000 for a fancy Alienware computer that glows in the dark and doubles as a coffee maker, but you could just as easily buy the parts separately and build your own for 5-10 times cheeper.

As for the TV, you wouldn't really have to abandon it.
I have a huge HDTV that I hooked up to my computer and now use as a monitor for computer games and console games.
Saved a bunch of space too

Whenever I want to play a more serious-tone title, I use my PC. If I want to play a less serious-tone then I use one of my consoles.

I'm not entirely sure how this dichotomy evolved, but it is nonetheless present.

Im generally pretty equal down the board. Ill play games on my PC too, as well as on my consoles.

Computer fr now. I don't have the money to fork over for a console. I might get a 3DS though. IF I find a job.

I was a console gamer for the longest time, but now with Steam and owning a computer that can play decent games, I've forsaken even worrying about getting a current gen console, not with so much the modding communities have to offer.

if I'm going to play something generally it will be on the PC, but once I get the cash together to upgrade to a better TV I'll likely get get a PS3 and start playing that as well.

PC. Controllers are good only for fighting and racing games, none of which I play very often.

I dunno about that man, you really can't generally get the same level of precise control on keyboards that you need for platformers, fighters, racers and most general 3rd person games. Just like you'd be dreaming to think you get the same level of accuracy in FPSs on a controller as you do with a mouse.

OT: I play my PS3 and my PC equally, since I usually play games like Ratchet and Clank, GTA 4, RDR, Fallout 3, Tekken 6, DiRT2 and AC 2 on my PS3 for the better 3rd person and driving controls, and I play L4D, Far Cry, CoD4 and MW2, Crysis, Portal, Sims 3 and H.A.W.X on my PC because thy work better for the PC than they would a controller.

I reckon it's generally trivial to argue these sorts of semantics.

Yea because lower quality graphics, the absence of player-made mods, and the imprecision of joysticks clearly means superior, amirite?

I'll give you mouse and keyboards, but graphics are irrelevant when you have to pay $200 for a decent graphics card and mods are a luxury that games shouldn't need. I don't really feel like arguing, I just didn't want to be dismissed.
