defintely face. Never forget a face, but the name normally goes in one ear and out the other.

I generally have a bad memory when it comes to people, especially names. I'm much more of a face person, saying "I know that person from someplace but for the life of me..."

I can only remember someones face and name, if they speak to me twice during the day and say they're name,

and your name is now Urashima Keitaro.
I have to say, I now love you. You are only the second person in history whom I've met online that knows who that is. And the one person I've met in real life that knows who he is and isn't me only knows that because I showed him the series.

It's different for me. In order of likeliness to remember, it's:

1. Shoes.
2. Face.
3. Name.

Don't ask me why.

I'd say I'm both tbh. Once I've learnt someone's name, I'll remember them (I'd say forever but I can't really put that to the test) even if they don't remember me. The problem I sometimes encounter however is not knowing why I know someone. I was at a party a few months ago and a girl who's name I knew and who I recognised who also recognised me but couldn't remember my name came up and re-introduced herself. Neither of us could remember where we'd met or why we knew each other and she wasn't associated with the person who's party it was but came as someone elses date. Was quite a wierd experience and neither of us know why we know each other.
This - I still remember the name from a kid I saw on the street a couple Kilometres away from our school. In second grade ... But unless they do something special, I have to hang out once or twice to remember their names. But I do remember them arn well!

Absolutely, I usually remember people based on avatars, it mixes me up when people change them.
And this. I usually don't even recognize peoples names before I see the avatar for a second time. If you've wronged me somehow, just change your avatar! I'll be your best friend in a matter of seconds =P

You mean like .. Keitaro? Urashima Keitaro? Seriously? Allright. I thought for a while I was the only one who enjoyed that series =P

And you see? I didn't recognize Keitaro in your avatar before someone mentioned the name .. I'm so a name person

I can recognise people very easily, but ask me to describe them and I draw a blank. I'm good at remembering names too, and as soon as I think of a name I can link in loads of little details about that person.

Most of the time I'm a 'face person'.
However, when it comes to onlineness, I'm more of a 'name person'.
Avatars are a lot easier to change than faces.

If I see a name, i have to struggle to see the face, but I'll get it in the end.
If I see a picture of someone, or meet them in the street, I'll instantly remember their name.

Face, I always remember the name after the face. My memory of people is quite good, I easily recognise people I haven't seen in years the second I see them. And that's with people I barely know.

Face. It can be really helpful here on the escapist, however, in reality being able to know someones face but not pin down there name is the most annoying thing ever.

I'm horrible at both, I still can't name my cousins with certainty and while I can feel I recognize someones face it's not enough to put it in any sort of context.

Face.

It even applies here on the Escapist.

Same here. I recognize faces/avatars easily, but not names. I´m terrible with names. Although, in real life while walking around, I usually don´t pay much attention to passers-by, so I also easily miss familiar faces. Afterwards I get to listen someone whine about how I didn´t greet them (because I didn´t notice them in the first place.) Perhaps I should stop being so damn oblivious. Perhaps.

I'm really terrible at both. Especially names, took me 2 years to learn all the names of the people in my class in high school.

Faces I can vaguely recognize, but I can't remember where I've met them. This is something my friends hate about me. Once I met this guy who started going "Hey man, what's up?" and I didn't know for the life of me who he was. So I asked my friend "Do I know this guy?".
"Yes you dumb fuck, you work with him!"
"Oooh, thought he looked familiar."

Normally I will remember a name very well. Unless of course this person has a face of a metriod, which I would then remember more than a name.
