I guess i am trying hard to look like one, with expensive jeans(no its not tight), and a bag made out of recycled truck tarps.

on the other hand, i apocalyptically hate mac osx and the snobby mainstream=bad attitude, especially in video games.

so uh.. i guess i am a 'poser'?

Wait - what do you mean by Hipster? I am in favour of some (or even most) progressive policies, independent thinking, creativity and intellectualism. I gather that MOST people are - I've never heard of anyone angrily denouncing Creativity or Independent Thinking!

I don't wear any clothing that might be considered "hipster" but I certainly hate advertising. I don't draw or listen to "indie" bands.

I get the feeling that Hipster has not been well defined, or that the label could apply to almost anyone.

Not really a hipster. I don't like cigarettes and wearing vintage clothing, in fact I get most of my clothes from Hot Topic. Anyway, musically, I can be a bit hipster, I like indie bands, and pop music is too mainstream and flat out stupid for me. Like Daft Punk is too mainstream for me. It's not so much hipster, more so cynical with a certain taste in music. Fashion wise I don't really care about how I look. I wear band t shirts for Christ's sake. (Nirvana, deadmau5, Metallica, etc) Food wise, I don't think hipsters have a certain taste in food. I drink Starbucks when given the chance if that counts.

No I'm not. I think I might be a geek though.

My otherwise perfect sister went to use my PC to type an email and I laughed at her when she asked for a different keyboard because all the letters had worn away.

Round here if you're a hipster you're getting into galleries and shit so you'd have to be one to be an exhibiting artist. Sadly I'm not and thus I don't tend to get into exhibitions. However, my not being a hipster confirms that my work isn't some bullshit conceptual garbage with an artistic process that is dull, boring and painful.

Hipsters round here need to have Apple everything because they're sooo innovative ... they don't know the first difference between Apple's misleading sales pitching and Microsoft's misleading sales pitching. Also with your Apple, you need starbux ... and if you don't like coffee then you have to at least like tea. You have to drink pabst or cheaper beer or boxed wine. Also, you have to wear a hat most of your life.

I hate hipsters; therefore, transitively, I hate Apple, starbux, pabst and hats.

close but no. I don't dress like a hipster, and while I hold a lot of values in common with them I try not to feel smugly superior about my choices and values. I also am not a music geek(?).

I couldn't care less about your stupid labels, Which I guess makes me a hipster. Oh well, who cares.

People over react about hipster culture and accuse people of being a hipster at the drop of a hat fedora. Unless they mock you for liking something there is no reason to get worked up.

I'm to fat to be a hipster :(

I like the style on women, and on men, minus the skinny jeans.

I share many of the qualities of a hipster, except my thrift store clothes were bought at thrift stores because I can't afford to shop anywhere else.

No. I'm not mainstream, and I'm not hipster. I'm some bizarre thing that doesn't really give care about the stuff I like or the implications thereof. I like defending traditionally despised stuff, which puts me in the "WTF is wrong with you" category, but certainly not hipsterism.

I guess we have 'hipster-type' people here in NZ, but the name 'hipster' hasn't really entered the vocabulary yet. I'll get there eventually, I guess.

I don't think I'm a hipster, and frankly the o'erweening arrogance and self-absorption demonstrated by the author of that article made me want to vomit, but I know the type.

At the end of the day, even if you identify as a 'hipster', you're still fundamentally different to all the other people who self-identify as 'hipsters', so what's the point of worrying about the label?

Like what you like, dress how you want, and for Gods' sake try to be a nice, mature, well-rounded person. That is, wear the tight jeans, have the asymmetric haircut, watch the indie films, do whatever you want, just *don't* be the pompous ass who wrote that definition for UrbanDictionary!!

Which one is the hipster option? Do I admit yes and become part of the mainstream or stay neutral and small like Switzerland?

I wanna be like Germany!

[sub]No, not really...[/sub]

I've considered it. Think I've been one at one point.

Then I realized I don't give two shits whether I'm a hipster or not.
