Don't listen to him, I think you should change it.

Fappy said he'd never change and look how that worked out.
I'm still getting PM's about what my avatar's from. I think it worked out rather well ;D
Bring back Mao D:<

I don't like change.
Mao will return! I am currently re-watching the series right now in order to find a good scene to GIF-ify!
I don't want anymore of your goddamn excuses.

You better, or else.

Reasons.
You have no power over me anymore! SO SAYS THE LAW!

Who gave you the power of the law?

I lawfied you, I can unlawerererfy you.
Silly Daystar! You can't do that!

I AM THE LAW!

Amaterasu has judged you and finds you lacking.

Please assume the position and submit to a divine beatdown.

I tend to be a short poster rather than a superserious/hilarious poster.

It also depends if I actually have anything to say about the topic that will further the discussion.

If I don't then I won't.

Otherwise, Whirlpools of bacon.

I usually don't post ~75% of the posts I write, just because I put too much thought into it and then scrap the whole post.

I come from parts of the internet where the people who post serious and well-thought forum threads are the weirdos! The Escapist is a strange, strange land so far away from home.

It depends on the topic really.
Combine that with the content of the posts in the discussion in question, and there we go.

Some topics don't require the same level of seriousness.

Nope, 20k post was in the Brovengers UG chat :D

Once you start using UGs, post count means very little.

I have a bad (good for academics though) habit of needing to be extremely thorough in my tackling of a serious subject. I need to research, think things through, and make sure everything logically follows (to the put where I sometimes rerun the argument in symbolic logic to make sure it works). This shit takes time and effort, effort that would be wasted because the result would be too long and "dry" for anyone to care to read.

I'd like to be able to talk about how I highly disagree with prevailing escapist opinions that art is merely subjective, or how I think the answer to the drowning threads can be found more readily in the ethical theories of utilitarianism, deontology, or natural law morality than mere opinion based on emotional ties or experience, but no one would read any of it :(

Not a single person has even commented on my early attempts to talk about "deep" stuff so I was like "Fuck it! To the forum games" XD

I generally try to answer the OP's in good faith though.

It depends on whether you think comedy can be serious.
I can deliberately parody or satirize something in a manner that (is intended to be funny for the reader) but is making a valid point.

But most people on The Escapist just call that trolling.
I try to walk the line, and it's hard to measure my success because most people don't even acknowledge that there is a line to be walked...

I do take top 5 or best/worst game/movie threads rather seriously because I am crazy enough to think anyone cares about what I think

I usually prefer to just observe and read other posts. It really baffles me how quickly some of the newer users post. Some of them have been here less time than me and have much more posts than I do.

I do a whole lot of joking in RL, and know very few people who can level with me (I'm trying to figure out a way to say this without sounding pretentious) on a intellectual or geeky level, so this place is an opportunity to be really thoughtful and hopefully gain some insight from the posters here.

I've developed a habit of being very wordy and re-framing/phrasing my argument/point to ensure that it gets across, kind of like The Jimquisition does. I've also been called "parenthetically insane", but I consider that a term of endearment. While all of this has helped with great discussion, there are instances where the post below mine asks a question or makes a statement where it's clear that they passed over the wall of text and ignored the information within it.

It's a growing process, this is still new to me (being on any internet forum in general) and I'm apt to change things as I found out what works and what doesn't.

I do accept my post will be lost in the sea of responses.
In less I offend users enough or I quote another user.
Gun topic seem to generate the most responses.
Pro-gunners don't like their philosophies being challenged.

I'm serious, except when I'm not.
And when it gets down to that, expect me to seriously not be serious.

Now, on a ostensibly objective metric, I want you to rate the seriousness of this post. Go on.

I put a lot of thought into the stupid things I say on the Internet. It takes effort to be a towering monolith of dumb.
I hear you. It takes even more effort to build a fully functional protective moat around said tower.
A lot of people around the internet just end up with a puddle of dumb, and it is a bit sad to behold sometimes.

Love your avatar/username combo by the way. It's just vague enough to be a reference, but I honestly can't tell if it's supposed to be or not. That in of itself only solidifies my resolve to take it as the reference it probably isn't.

I rarely put much thought into my posts.
Granted, most of them are in Forum Games, but still.
If I'm posting anywhere else, I like to think I put a little bit of thought into my posts.
Though I usually end up scrapping the majority of my thought out posts.

I have noticed that i am in the more serious camp of the intertubes mostly
Some people just go nuts when they can be anonymous
If you do not have a name... how do you find and learn from your past mistakes

Why post if you have nothing to say that matters to you? Even if it is a personal objection if you feel strongly it is worth saying.
