Not really... I mean, I feel uneasy but I think to an extent that's natural when a sense is deprived. Wouldn't say Im scared though.

Generally, I am not scared of the dark.

But what really scares me is swimming in a dark unlit swimming pool.

No. I love the dark, I love walking at night, especially on really clear nights when the stars are incredibly bright. Indoors, I only turn the lights on when I'm in an unfamiliar place so I don't fall over stuff. Darkness or very dim lights are peaceful and comforting, more so than bright lights.

When I'm in the room, the darkness is the least of your problems...

OT: I enjoy the dark, it makes screens better for viewing!

I thought this topic was going to be about the TV show. I'm disappointed.

Anyway!

I voted that I'm afraid of what could happen to me in the dark, not the darkness itself. I'm somewhat clumsy even at the best of times. Not being able to see anything is only going to amplify the problem.

But other than that, I don't mind it all that much. I love to watch movies and play video games in the dark.

No, I'm 21 for fuck's sake. I'm scared of not being able to see shit and falling over and damaging myself, but not of the darkness itself.

I suppose it depends on the situation, if I was in a place I didnt know that looked shifty then yeah I guess, but again, thats more of a fear of a place then darkness itself

I actually have a legit fear of the dark. It started when I was younger and kind of got worse (i'm 16 now) Though when other people are with me, I am totally fine.

When I'm alone though, forget about it. My parents always know I'm coming up from the basement because it sounds like a herd of elephants, me trying to escape whatever could be coming after me.

"Only when it's unilluminated."

And nobody smacks him in the back of the head and talks about nocturnal creatures or things that live deep underwater. And he's in a library of all places.

I need a "only afraid if someone is with me option." I'm not really afraid of people, they're usually pretty spineless and incapable of action, but if they are put in a dark room, they might start to be a little opportunistic. This applies to more than just people, if I was stuck in a dark basement with a leopard, I'd be pretty afraid.

In brief: alone in the dark is pleasant but with another body comes another potential danger.

I'm not afraid of the dark itself. It's more a fear of the unknown that lurks IN the dark. Also, closed in spaced. I'm only claustrophobic when I'm in the dark.

For example: Being in my house in the dark doesn't scare me. I know the place, and I know the sources of the weird noises it makes.

Weirdly, I am much more afraid of the dark inside than outside. I put it down to spending lots of my childhood camping, watching films that were wildly inappropriate and my house being kinda creepy. You'd think living in the place for my entire life would make me extra comfortable there, but it's actually quite the opposite. I wouldn't say I'm afraid of the dark, but I have a very active imagination.

1am, dog seems uncomfortable, won't settle down, keeps scratching the door. Can't find the torch. No matter.
Local wooded circuit about 25 minutes long. Get to its entrance and hang around until I can see the way forward. Go in.
Dog catches sight or sound of something and bounds off, leaving me alone. No problem.
Dog rejoins me during the circuit or I wait for him back at the entrance. All done, go home.

Truly not bothered by the dark.

I've never feared the dark itself, but rather the unpredictability that it brings. It's a bit harder to use your most important sense in the dark. So no, I don't fear the dark at all.

When i was a teen I was very much afraid of the dark due to me believing that my house was haunted. At my current home not so much although my imagination is sadistic and can conjure up things that can make me head for the switch quickly.

I like the dark better, I put on music and turn off the lights. I'm like a bat. I'm Batman!

It's not that I'm afraid of the dark. It's that I'm of Slenderman... hiding in the dark. I know you're there you son of a ***** >.<

I am a little uncomfortable in the dark but only if I'm alone and at home. Anywhere else I don't really mind tbh.

Too many poll options deludes the results, makes them harder to interpret, and ultimately feel less important. Sorry, just felt I needed to point that out.

I used to be terrified of the dark because I had an active imagination as a child, but I'm 20 and now I'm just scared I might bump into something and hurt myself.

Ironically it is graveyards that scare me the least at night.

Not in particular. The only time I'm even a little afraid of the dark is when I let my imagination go a bit crazy.
