I rarely go out of my way to get achievements but occasionally I'll try to get a particular one.

My younger brother on the other hand is a *huge* achievement whore. He plays games just so that he can get a bigger gamerscore. He has more than twice the games played on his profile than I do, but I only about 1000 or so points less than him. Wonder if that means anything.

Achievements give you something to shoot for when you'e played the game out so you don't get bored once it's beaten. Can anyone honestly say they played Halo 3 the second time on Legendary (Or should I say suicide-inducing difficulty.) just for kicks?

No. Paying £40 is incentive enough to get the most out of a game.

I'm an achievement hunter. I enjoy hunting around for the interesting and enjoyably achievements so I can experience parts of the game I would have never experienced before.

I always check out a game's achievements before I play and I try to get a lot of them just playing through.

Most of my games I have about 75% of achievements, so I guess I am an "Achievement Whore."

It's fun to achievement whore sometimes. Depends on how easy the game is to Achivement Whore. I just hate it when people think that their Gamerscore is some sort of E-Penis.

I'm already and RPG fanatic obsessed with grinding myself retarded (I just got my hands on Dissidia, my life is over). If I was an achievement whore, I would have no life.

Only sometime. While I will not go out of my way to smash X boxes and stuff, or Kill Y amount of bad guys (like 100000) I will do I would find interesting.
Like little rocketman. That one was a fun one

As an adult in the real world I cannot afford many video games, I only own 5 for my 360 in the year and a half I've owned it, so I try and milk them for everything I can.

If there were more rewards to the actual gameplay I could see a point to achievements. As it stands its just a silly waste of time. Anyone who goes above and beyond their normal course of play, it really isn't worth it just to say you have done it.

I only turn into an achievement whore if it's the absolutely last thing to do in the game.

If I've beaten it, gotten every ending, got the best equipment, found all the secrets, done everything there is to do. That's when I start going for Achievements.

I'm still 6 grubs short of having every HL2:E2 achievement, as it were.

Yeah, I can readily admit that I'm coo-coo for cocoa puffs. And for achievements. And for both. And maybe pretzels.

Im something of an achievement whore, but dont really have enough time these days to get my score past 17k. I know I'm an achievement whore because if Im not on the 360 or PS3 any other gaming experience doesn't feel quite right. I feel a sense of real cheap "gamerism" when I play the DS or PSP when I take a shit. It's the reason I cant quite start Yakuza 2 on the PS2 even knowing how good the first one was.

Achievement whore to the max here.
I feel horrible having to return a rented game without getting all the achievements first. And it's not only on console. Sites like this one that have badge systems too. I try to get as many as I can.

is it a bad thing that when i sit down and hit the start button and begin playing a brand new game that i get a sad little tingle of anticipation when that first 'congratulations you managed to put your trousers on the right way round' achievement pops up on screen...?

the minute i see that i immediately hit the big X and have a look through the achievements for the game, as though that's the most interesting and exciting thing about it. it's tragic really. i never set out to be an achievement whore, but by half way through the game i'm already more busy chasing after gamerscore than playing through the story. it wouldn't be so bad if gamerscore wasn't utterly worthless. all it's good for is an indication of how much time you've spent sat around playing on your Xbox/PS3.
