Meh I'm not all that excited about it. Plus the music it has really isn't my thing. I also don't really have the space for another huge peripheral.

I can see that they're trying to reach a wider audience but I'll stay out of it thanks.

The reason I ask is because at it's core, guitar hero is a rhythm game. DJ Hero is going to be no different. It's going to be no less realistic than guitar hero, and a turntable is no instrument but it shouldn't particularly matter in this case it's resembling what it should, a pair of decks, and it's mimicking the same concept of scratching and the results of which. Technically it's doing it's job.
You are absolutely correct. But I never bought GH just because it was a rhythm game. I bought it because it is a game which (loosely) emulates playing a guitar, with a lot of music I like to go with it. While DJ Hero is just a rhythm game for me, which I am in no way interested in.

And if there is one thing I hate it is "artists" who ruin perfectly good songs by making a shitty remix. And as far as I can tell, that is what you do in this game.
Artists who make remixes of their own songs is cool, but when some lame-ass DJ cashes in heaps of money for mashing together two different songs from two different artists... it's bullshit! Make something yourself for crying out loud!
So actually, I kinda hate this game and all it stands for. I hadn't realized that... thanks :D
No problem!

But yeah there are enough people who wish to emulate a DJ, and DJing isn't truly about going out and writing songs though is it? It's more to do with the atmosphere and the crowd and your ability to make them bend to your will via remixes and mash ups, a completely different world to, well, the rest of music in general. True some of the mash ups I've heard on this game are garbage, but I've heard some spectacular ones in real life and on here. But DJs going commercial is something I don't entirely agree with either.

But each to his own eh?

P.S. Your avatar is bloody cool.

Indeed. As long as people don't go all MGS4 on this game, it is totally fine by me :)
(I cannot stand MGS4, mostly because most people go all bananas about how divine it is. And it really grinds my gears :p )

I haven't followed this game, for obvious reasons, but I wonder how they will catch the essense of DJing as you put it. Will people feel the same atmosphere and the crowd? If not, then this should bomb. I can't say those things are very good in the GH games. But that as always been more about the music for me, so haven't paid that much attention to the crowd.

7 out of 8 people said NO. The Escapist has spoken.
It just shows that people on The Escapist are smarter than most people. 'Cause I'm betting, despite everything, DJ Hero will be a success. Sometimes I really hate my generation.

Ahh the auto-hate from the metal crowd!
Bah, don't assume. I hate metal as much as I hate techno/electronic/rap.
To be honest, it's a pretty safe assumption - metal fan = music nazi. I have yet to meet an exception.

I think this'll be a laugh, and, unlike the guitar crap, I may actually end up getting this. If only for the excuse to buy a glow in the dark T-shirt and jester's hat and act like a pillock in front of my mates, which will be fucking hilarious.
I'm a metalhead, which listens to electro/dubstep/rap/rock/funk/fingerstyle acoustic :)I'm also a DJ in New Zealand haha. Pleasure to meet you! Don't always assume my friend. We aren't all the gothic/closed minded people you think we might be.

OT: Meh, I think it's a bit of a bad idea, just seems like a bit of a cash in that is going to be particular to a certain audience rather than appealing to a broader spectrum of people.

Meh, not really interested as it just doesn't seem like my kind of thing. I've heard techno music, and while I don't hate it, it does nothing for me. More power to the people who do want to buy this game though, it will probably be a fun experience for those who like that kind of music, just like guitar hero is for me, but I will just keep my guitar and wait for GH5 myself.

Rhythm games like Guitar hero, DJ hero and Rock Band all remind me of DDR. They're essentially the same thing, but using your hands and fingers rather then feet. I never understood the appeal of the rhythm game genera. Maybe I just don't have rhythm. No, I ain't got rhythm.
So, no, I'm not excited.

What? DJ Hero? Sounds like a joke.

The whole cool thing about guitar hero was that you could pretend to be a RAWK Legend by pressing plastic buttons in the safety of your home.

No-one wants to be a disc jockey. Blegh.
