It looks entertaining, but there's no way I'd get it into the house. My parents aren't big on metal music and cannot stand Jack Black in the slightest. Most games I can BS past them by omitting aspects of the premise, but I can't think of anything that could sugarcoat Brutal Legend...

Use terms like "Hard Rock" or "Rock n' Roll" and don't mention Jack Black if they don't already know. You could get lucky.

I haven't played he demo and I might when my little brother gets off the xbox but from what I've seen and heard, I probably will remain unimpressed
Yeah, the level design looks alright but people, it looks like a joke. If I want the music I'll go to itunes.
You're going to agree with the opinion of a guy who hasn't even actually played the Demo yet, probably only seen a few trailers, and not the open world aspect in action? Perfect logic.
No, I am agreeing with him because I have seen the game being played and open world doesnt make a game good if the combat sucks(exception of Oblivion). It's my own opinion, I don't look at the first comment I see on a forum and that becomes my instant opinion. I decided a long time ago that I'm not gonna give two shits about this game.

Dragon Age and Modern Warfare 2 are coming out at the beginning of November. Sorry, Tim Schafer, but BioWare has me on a leash, and I love me some Call of Duty.

Maybe Borderlands as well, although I might only get that if my friends do.

Fair enough, as long as you want to miss out on, and I Ctrl+V,

15 hours of a GTA-esque Heavy Metal inspired open world, with over 50 varying missions within it, not counting all the sidequests that is. You get a Battle Axe, a Magic Flying V, and a Hot Rod, all customizable to make gameplay more interesting thanks to the Motorforge run by Ozzy Osbourne's character, and a few other legends of heavy metal play characters in the game as well; such as Rob Halford, Lita Ford, and Lemmy Kilmeister. The "Throw girl at shit thing" is only with Ophelia. Each friendly NPC/Animal in the single player has a unique Double Team attack Like forming a mosh pit with headbangers, or throwing a demon porcupine at the "Hairbangers" shall we say.
And the multiplayer/certain missions in single player have full on RTS-ish wars. while you only control Eddie's Faction, Ironheade, in single player, you have access to two other factions in multiplayer. Drowning Doom, the Emo/Gothic faction that uses their music to make the other team weaker, and Tainted Coil, the S&M demons you fight in the single player. And all Factions have a dozen or so Troops/Solos to use strategically to take down your opponents stage with up to 4 teams versus 4 over Xbox live and PSN. This is just scratching the surface as well.

To each their own I guess.

Brutal Legend is coming out this week and I for one am really excited after playing the demo. It's made by Tim Schafer so I don't see how it could possibly be bad. So who else is excited (or dismayed) about this game's release? What are your thoughts on the glimpses we've been given so far? Will the multiplayer totally suck? Discuss.
I played the Demo, twice. I want to like it, I really want to like it. It's one of the only games to actually make me laugh out loud. But the combat, the combat ffs! It's so terrible =( It put me off it, so no, i won't be buying this game.
How is the combat terrible? Seems just fine to me.
Tell me, how does 8 hours (hopefully it lasts that long) of doing the same attacks over and over going to be fun? Plus there's the Prince of Persia style "throw the girl at the bad guys" attack, which isn't great.

Someone give this man a medal.

All the reasons to purchase the game are right there folks.
*In an acceptance speech tone of voice.*Thank you, thank you, and thank you. Although I am 14 years old, and will only get this game for Christmas unless I get lucky, I can safely say I have pwned and teabagged kruxxor and his arguement like the high pitched noob he would picture me as. So it is with great honor that I accept this imaginary "Internet Medal of Win"
I'm gonna have to cut your dreams down right there. If that is all the game has then I wouldn't be getting to excited. Like he said same attacks over and over again unless you keep changing out the main secondary NPC. Your Jack Black character still has the same repetitive attacks. And first impressions from trailers should be what your first thought is going to be. He shouldn't have to research the game, the trailers and early-released gamplay vids should do that for you. I shouldn't have to research every game that I think looks bad. I have seen the gameplay and I have seen the multiplayer whiich has no appeal to me. And you need to shut your mouth when calling kids "noobs" because we can easily call you a "little kid fanboy". And plus he new about the throw the girl at the shit thing which you would kind of have to research to know. and he never said anything about the other NPC's double attacks so how do you know he doesn't know about them.

And on a medium-level unrelated note, What do people see in this game? It seems to be so highly anticpated when real games like CodMW2 and splinter cell 5 are out there. What is happening to the world.

You could at least type an original response for me, not just cut and paste. I have seen the multiplayer and it looks like shit on top of shit. And what you explain aboce doesn't seem fun. It seems like a dumb joke which no one laughs at. How long are the mission? Do they get repetitive? Will I care enough to do the side quests? And finally and most important, What do I get when I beat missions. From what Ive heard every weapon you get you start out with at the beggining of the game. And the attack animations are so horribly done, It looks like crap.

Tim Schafer, an original game with a refreshing art style, and Heavy metal theme are factors. And trailers are supposed to make you interested in the game enough to find out more about it, play the demo, etc, and decide if it is worth the money. To me anyway, some people, not you, you're ok, just look at the first teaser two years before release and dcide right then and there you will hate it.

And to argue you points.

1. I said that was scratching the surface in my paragraphs, the game will have more to it than what I mentioned, that's just what Tim let us know about.

2. The upgrades you get make your attacks have special abilities and you unlock newer combos as the game progresses, to keep the combat somewhat fresh.

3. Or you just use the "Follow" command to easily bring some of your troops over for a Double Team attack.

4. The Main Character is just voiced by and partially inspired by Jack Black.

5. I all ready did the trailer thing.

6. Fair enough on the noob thing, I just had one of my "You suck because you aren't as informed about the game as I am from what i've seen" moments.

7. He said he saw his brother play the demo, so he could have easily seen the Double Teams from his brother. I how the fuck would I know about him knowing about other Double Teams unless he acknowledges them?

Bottom Line, we have different opinions on the subject. Multiplayer seems deep and entertaining to me, you don't seem to like the look of it. And to be fair, I was a Douche in my last post, kroxxer just seemed ignorant from his posts. Let's just stop arguing now before the mods get involved. I will get and (hopefully) enjoy the game, and you won't do either. I am done...also I fixed a few of your spelling mistakes.

How is the multiplayer a dumb joke? Missions vary in length. From what i've seen, the story ones don't get repetitive. The sidequests might be fun, you aren't getting the game so you can't do the Sidequests, and you get more Fire Tributes (The Currency for the Motorforge.) after the missions from what Tim has revealed so far, and some missions will also most likely open up the the 64 sq mile map in the game. Yes you get your 3 weapons at the start, but they are at their bare basics with only one special combo unlocked, more comes from the motorforge where you can somewhat individualize what power ups your weapons will have. Animation looked just fine to me, a bit jerky, but reminds me of Psychonauts, a game I like alot.

Correct me if i'm wrong, but Demo's are meant to make you WANT to buy the game, I didn't experience any open world-ness in the Demo, just pure linear levels and a dodgy in-car boss fight.

It's all well and good but when you tell me of these legends of Heavy Metal but the only one I know of is Ozzy Osbourne, and just chucking famous people into a game doesn't make it good.

It should be in delivery this week, so come Wednesday I will give it a whirl on my lunch or something, but I doubt i'll be overly impressed.

If you consider the quality of Tim Schafer's previous games you know it will be a good single player experience. Multi-player might not draw in as big of a crowd as expected because of it's RTS style.

Personally I am waiting for what people say about multi-player before I jump out and spend $60 on any game.

I mostly want Uncharted 2 and Borderlands but Im still looking forward to the game. Multiplayer is going to be like Overlord's though. No-one will play it.
Really? From what I saw it looks like the multiplayer will play like Sacrifice.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sacrifice_(computer_game)

Which is also a pretty awesome game.
