I ain't got no reason to be disappointed with the game...yet. Too early to say now.

Do any of you people (besides Machines Are Us, he clearly gets what's going on) realize that Bioshock 2 isn't even OUT yet? All we've seen are a few trailers and previews, and a brief trailer of the multiplayer mode. And a few tidbits about the story. That's it. You have no real right to say you're 'disappointed' with something if it hasn't even been revealed or properly released yet. 'Disappointment' implies that the object of disappointment is something you've actually, oh, I don't know, experienced. Or in this case, played.

A couple of good points here.... they 'simulated' playing as a big daddy in the first one, and the big daddy character is so intriguing it would work as it's own protagonist.

Second, Bioshock was pretty much System Shock 2, it was not 'original' or a groundbreaking piece of work that needs to be held up high on some kind of pedestal. It was a fantastic game and I enjoyed playing it, but let's not give it epic status just yet.

If they can give me similar gameplay in an equally impressive game world I'm all for it, but at the same time it has to be different. Different enough to justify the purchase. I hate when games fail to do that... (NHL 10 I'm looking at you here).

They would need to basicly make an ass-pull in the story, to actually continue the first game witht he same protagonist.

(as the 2nd one continues on the good ending I will keep at that one)
he freed the little sisters and died as an old grandfather with many many "adopted" daughters. There is no real way if they were taking the story of the first one serious without denying half of it in the end. It's a little what bugged me in God of War 2 actually.

In GoW1 you win and become the god that many people in many wars pray to and the flashy sequence shows clearly modern time wars as well along with various historical wars. Yet they did a hard shift in the story and continued it basicly only a little while after the first game ended, declining the many many many years the first one was filing as "covered" in the very end sequence.

my idea: the BigDaddy you play (as in: the very first BigDaddy ever created) is not as sluggish as his fellow comrades (as in: the predecessors from the first game) and is by far not as slow and much more versatile than the Rosies or the Sphere-guys ever were shown like.

I am not disapointed as of yet as long as the game gets the atmosphere done right, the controls work smoothly and I got a little bit to play with weapons and plasmids and there I will be happy already.

I'm back from german class! Jesus I think you all misunderstood me. I'm not saying Im dissapointed by the game, just playing as the big f***ing daddy. I don't like playing as what I hate. George bush: the video game. Sound fun eh?

You DO realize that it's also a prequel, right?

Like, you find out more about the old story through flashbacks and discovering things out in the water and such?

I was really looking forward to bioshock 2, untill I found out that you play as a big daddy. They were great enemies, but I really don't wanna play as one! I wanted a continuation of the firsts story!
1. WOW what an OP.
2. Back up your opinion
3. ITS NOT EVEN OUT WHY ARE YOU BASHING IT ALREADY
I personally look forward too it. Bioshock was fun but it had terrible gun mechanics and eventually you really just couldn't really use anything besides the shotgun and grenade launcher, oh and the crossbow. The Drill is pretty much a one hit kill on most Splicers i suppose. You have a Rivet Gun. and finally theres more to little sisters than watching the same kill/save animation over and over again.

This sounds a bit like someone complaining after playing Halo 1, "I think Halo 2 is going to be boring beacuse you get to play as the Arbiter."
Actually, the bits of the game were you did play as the Arbiter where the most boring and uninteresting parts of the whole game. Both me as well as my friend were extremely happy when we heard that he would not be playable in the single player campaign in Halo 3.
Yea, uh the parts where you would play as the Arbiter in H2 were more story oriented where the Master Chief parts were more...death...oriented.

I'm disappointed that there even is a Bioshock 2, I wish that the gaming industry would realise that just because a game sells well, it doesn't mean that it always has to be made into a franchise.
Bioshock was a great stand alone title and I can't see how they're going to do anything but ruin all that they built when they made Bioshock.
I agree with you, although sometimes in a single player game it can be annoying when you've finished it and want more.
I for one, am interested in this idea of Bioshock multiplayer, I wanna see how it turns out.

Bioshock 1 wasnt great. It litterally was system shock 2 underwater. I dont like that at all. If you are going to make a new game make a new game. Dont give me something that was done better before in a new package yet not as good.

I can deffinatly see the appeal of playing as a big daddy in Bioshock 2 but that screams gimmick. Big Daddy was fun to fight but that was really the only enemy in Bioshock that was fun to fight. I dont know I was never really impressed with bioshock. The first playthrough was fun because of the story but after that because you know what is going to happen it just loses all the charm it once had.

I don't see how OPs view on playing as the original big daddy would ruin the game at all. It's not like you wont be fighting other big daddy's anyway. It's too early to tell whether you'll be disappointed or not.

WELL....seeing how the game isn't even out yet....how could I be disappointed?

I hate when people jump to conclusions about something...
