Call of Duty 4 was good, but not MW2, it was just a pile of COD4 with some more stuff thrown on it. I enjoy games likt Half-Life 2 and Team Fortress 2.
I'm more dissappointed in this really.

I must admit, while I've been gaming since the 80s, I never bothered talking to other gamers until 2005. In fact, I think I only even knew one other person who played video games...that or no one in school ever thought it was worth bringing up.

I think gamers have always been the same, so if I were disappointed with the current generation, I would have to be disappointed with my own, and the previous one.

I think gaming has just opened up, so the statistics have been skewed relatively to that. If you accept that 90% of things are shit, 10% are good, it gets a lot more noticeable when there are more games being churned out. Add to that that 90% of people have always been willing to buy shit, whereas 10% will never buy shit, and the 90% of shit gets bought more, so it receives more exposure.

'Gamers' who can fuck off and die:
-Anyone who classifies themselves as a 'hardcore gamer',
-Anyone who calls anyone else a 'non-gamer' or 'casual gamer' just because they don't have as big a gamerscore, have a different console, or have a life,
-Anyone who's forgotten that gaming is about HAVING FUN and not screaming insults about one's mother and simulating oral sex with another guy's corpse (which is both gay AND necrophilia in most games, and kinda sad and stupid),
-Anyone who spends waaay too long waaaay too often (like WoW addicts),
-Anyone who reckons Halo or any other of the generic FPSes floating around is the b3st g4m3 3VAR! and that anything else is 'for fags' or 'gay' etc., religiously screaming this at anyone who happens to be playing at the time,
-Anyone who uses '1337' or textspeak in real life,
-Fratboy gamers,
-Anyone who's all 'OMG the grafix suxors! This must be shit!'
-People who whine when they're killed. STFU and play the damn game or fuck off!
-And everyone else, because I'm in a pissy mood.

So, yeah.
Honostly, every one of these except the last one is how I feel too.

utter disapointment. it seems that since halo there ha been a never ending wave of generic titels that bring nothing new to gaming. but game developers can do this because of the fact that most games seem to go for bright graphics and no inovation.

and if my experiance on COD's multiplayer is anything to go by then most game are now 10-13 year olds

From this day, I make a pledge. I don't give one about what other people play. So long as they don't wave it in my face and certainly don't try and get me in on their conversation.

I'm not dissapointed because.. uhh... wait, yeah. I am dissapointed. I can't step into any online game without being ridiculed for not being a perfect player ;_;

I'm disappointed with this generation in general. And no, I'm not some old person complaining about the state of youngsters these days: I'm 20. But the current generation is... well... yeah. Our society as a whole is going down the drain (the US, that is), and these kids are being raised in it. That's not going to end well.

But yes, that is reflective in their gaming habits and outlooks. And it sucks.

I'm disappointed with my generation all right. They just don't seem to have any roots. They don't seem to appreciate "that game". Maybe its just me, but this generation seems to be making a lot of "I'm having fun when I'm winning" people.

Yes yes, I know winning is always better than losing. But losing can be fun too. And chasing after amazing graphics...well, it always seemed so pointless to me.

But then again, I still play my snes, GBA, and replay games that I have absolutely beaten.

That's how it always is in console games. Rarely does that happen when I play on the PC. Rarely, not never.

I'm dissapointed in the current generation of GAMES! not gamers.

The games being produced are often rushed and shipped to make deadlines and not just released when they are 100% complete, the Beta testing for tonnes of games is simply releasing it and then later sending out a patch.

Due to most people having internet connections game designers have the attitude of, if gamers find a problem, we'll just give them a patch.

MMO is the king of gaming at the moment due to the co-operative feel people get of playing in a huge world with other people to break up the tension of playing alone.

Most games that comes out nowerdays has a tonne of flaws, in either the logical structure of the game or the actual development, ever been like; Wow! that was a dumb idea to put in the game, why the hell is it like that? Is so you can understand why I think this generation of games are sucky.

A prime example is when money in a game becomes useless and the accumulation is pointless. Why am I motivated to make money in a virtual world if I have nothing to spend it on?

No, I don't care. They can like the games that they like and I'll like mine. -shrug- It's that simple.

Why should I be? It's their problem, not ours.

You can continue playing the amazing games that you love, and ignore them.
First reply and pretty much /thread.

OT: I don't care what other gamers do or think. And there's nothing you could do about it anyways, if you did care.

I'm sort of disappointed and sort of pissed with this generation treating gaming like a trendy accessory, that they'll probably drop when the next big thing comes around. Quite a few smug bastards that have lost the love of the game for the one with the most bells and whistles or whatever there friends are doing. Mind you not all of them but a good few have.

Other than that when people tell me why the 360 or whatever sucks I tell them, so what I have fun with it,usually shuts them up.

Also to lighten up that bit of seriousness, Damn kids always getting on my, and by mine I mean my parents, lawn.

I dislike how much market audience affects a game, the amount of generic FPS that come out because of Halo and CoD4 is ridiculous, even genres change due to tha gamers that play them, take a look at Fallout and Metroid, neither of which were primarily shooters before the Ps2 360 generations and that's called audience demand, FPS sells well so everything should be one. We should always make games for the gamers they'd say, we'll make more money that way. Nintendo keep making their games very similar every gen because they knew it worked, people are now complaining about reusing the same characters over and over but at least they're in the same franchise and are good characters, I personally can't tell the difference between Halo, Killzone, Haze, Unreal etc other than the characters wear different coloured armour, how is that better? It's not, it's much worse because the only unique ideas in those games are crap physics, cloning what was popular at the time, drugs and hoverboards, come on, where's all the innovation, oh I forgot, no one wants it, everyone's happy playing the same game over and over again...unless it's been made in Japan because Final Fantasy and Zelda are some how more generic than Halo and Gears.
