Yes, because I don't bother with the conspiracy theories and the Corpuraitons R Evul (C) bandwagon that's so cool these days. I enjoy video games so I'll buy the consoles I need to play them. Within restrictions of the monies and all that.
I understand you opinion but I dont feel its a popularity thing (at least not for me) or a conspiracy. Big companies being greedy and wanting more is no new news. Its just finally corrupted a form of entertainment most of us have grown up with practically are whole lives. I love video games too but I see myself just exploring and buying up old console games rather then have to go through a ton of cash in order to play some new ones. Its up to you though If you are for the new gen and it makes you happy who cares right =)

I currently have no plans to, but that's largely due to financial reasons. Although I am not thrilled at the prospect of a new generation at this point and all these rumors only serve to make me even more discouraged.

EDIT: I'm starting to wonder if maybe it's time I gave up gaming and found a new hobby...

I'm almost exclusively a PC gamer, and this gen I've owned a Wii which I used about as anyone used theirs (not at all), and 360 which I used a little bit but eventually realised I was just buying games on it for the sake of owning it, and a PS3 which I still have (sold the 360 and Wii) but again, rarely use.

So no, probably not.

PC gaming's cheaper in the long run, has a far larger library, and is much more open.

If there is no backwards compatibility and they shun the used game market, I don't think many people will be buying the new console. People will go to PC, since there's already a "no used games" system in place, but it has amazing backwards compatibility.
As for me? I'm already a PC gamer, so the console market doesn't affect me, unless it causes another video game crash.

Pc gaming elitist right here... so yeah...<.<

Owning a PC that's more powerful than the next couple console generations has it's perks...

No. Console business practices are ass backwards, and since PC gaming is making a comeback to the dominance it held in the 90s, I'm well off. I don't need to spend 599 dollars on a console that has one good launch game and a shit ton of bugs when I have one system that can play everything from 1990 to 2012.
I agree....I'd much rather sink that $600.00 into a new PC that can do more than a console ever could, AND have better graphics, I just love how two years ago we were still having the "Is PC gaming dead?" debate and now we are at a 3 way split between I will buy a new console I may or may not buy a new console, and I will not buy a new console. Thank you steam.

I'm not sure yet, but leaning quite heavily towards no. If any of the rumours about used games turn out to be true that'll probably seal me firmly in the no category. hat's not even because I won't support a platform that doesn't have used sales. I rarely sell my games so I'm not looking to get money, and I have used Steam since about a year after it came out and usually buy all of my games on it nowadays. The difference is that I do rely on Steam having sales, and otherwise lowering prices at a reasonable rate to get games that I want at a price I can afford. Used sales and price drops on less popular games are the only way for me to get that on consoles, and even then, I find a lot of stuff stays too expensive for too long. I also have absolutely no expectation that if console manufacturers remove used sales altogether that they will counter that with a pricing structure that makes sense, including reasonable price decreases after a reasonable amount of time.

There is absolutely no reason that any title released last fall should still be anywhere near $60, but whenever I go to Gamestop or another store I still see things like Skyrim or the latest COD selling at or near those prices. But rather than try to get the price conscious consumer to start buying their games new a few months down the road, they force us to look for used copies that are more reasonably priced. Which isn't always easy with Gamestop's pricing structure.

If they are always-online only and non-used game playing systems then fuck them all, I won't be participating. Otherwise I might take a look at the next Sony system, I doubt I'd consider the next MS system since they don't give a damn for making video games anymore other than worthless kinect shit games.

I have a PS1, and got a PS2 a couple years ago, and got a classic GameBoy Advance two weeks ago.

Do I LOOK ready for next-gen?

Also, something no one seems to ever think about:

I hope you want to re-buy everything you've bought on PSN and XBLA again. Microsoft and Sony never once said they were going to promise you any purchases would be forward compatible. So Journey you just bought? I doubt that'll be running on a PS4. Those themes for your console? Those won't be working.

This is why I never buy stuff on those.

Dude you don't have to give up games lol.
I bet you there are thousands of great games for old and current gen consoles that are just waiting for you to discover. I still buy N64, PS2 and XBOX games to this day. AND I LOVE IT!

Another thing about PC, you can most likely emulate any console, barring 360/PS3 you want, providing your hardware is strong enough. It's a moral Gray area surely, but i'd rather do that then buy an actual console :). If i'd have known that when I bought my Wii, i wouldn't have......

Well, I plan on picking up a WiiU eventually ('cause I love me some Nintendo exclusives), but as for the others... Depends on whether the rumors are true or not. If they are, I am going to steer clear. Otherwise, I might pick them up eventually.

Nope...after this generation I'm buying a good gaming pc...

Websites keep saying that Consoles are gonna die soon...and I haven't believed that...but if all the rumours that are going around are true about constant internet connections and non-playable, pre-owned games then I truly see the Games Console industry going down.

If the rumours about used games etc are just that then I'll most likely support them. If not then I might have to invest in a PC as there won't be any real benefits to owning a console, save for a few exclusives.
