In a series of hilarious and WTF situations, I've been informed by a friend's family that "Spencer" is a name that only gay people have. -_-

Other than that, I quite like it.

Well, to pick a nit here, the name your parents gave you is not 'your real name'. It is just the name your parents gave you. What you choose to go by is your real name if you want it to be. Sorry, it's a bit of an annoyance for me... One of the questions transgender people get asked a lot is 'So what's your REAL name' when fishing for what you used to be called... Implying or outright stating that your identity is fake.

That said, I never liked my birth name and I had it legally changed. I was (emotionally, mentally) abused by my father my entire life. And he is the one who picked my first name, his first name was my middle name (family tradition) and of course, I had his last name. Which was long and nobody ever pronounced it right. Plus I always had a disconnect with my first name... People would call it trying to get my attention and I would just not connect it to me.

So when I had a chance, I had my name legally changed, all three parts. And I am very happy with that, my real name.

Meh, my name is Jonathan, so it feels somewhat annoyingly common (and yet people could never spell it right on cards, even though I think my variant of the name is the most recognisable).

It would be far more fun if my last name was Smith, because then John would become my favourite shortening.

Both me and my brother's names were chosen because they mean "Gift from God", even though my parents are not at all religious. I think that's a good meaning, but it seems a bit unfortunate that it comes from common names.

If I ever get into a position where I'm well-known I'd probably rather be known by my username. The idea of people calling me by a name I chose, using the shortening "Pala", sounds nice and friendly, as if I'm everyones friend.

My name is kind of "meh", but after having had it for such a long time any more awesome name that I chose just wouldn't feel like me, so it wouldn't really make sense to change. So I'm going with "could be worse".

The only problem I have with my name (Jack) is that when I'm at college I will hear the name and assume they're talking to me.

I really like my name, and while it was a bit of a pain growing up with, I have nothing against it now. I'm Catherine shortened to Catie, which led to me being "Catie with a 'C'" through-out elementary school and Jr High. And whenever I go to a new doctor or something like that I have to say "Catie.. no, with a C". Amusingly, I've met a handful of Catherines like me while working the cash register at work, and it always makes me smile. When I have to pipe Katie on a cake, however, I usually give a little shudder.

I currently work with a Katie in my department, but we're known as 'Katie 1' and 'Catie 2' in speaking.

My last name is just ethnic enough (Sicilian) that people butcher it constantly. But, it was a good way to judge if a caller was someone who knew my family or was a telemarketer before the advent of Caller-id. Again, it was annoying in school with those first role calls. ".. It's pronounced like this, Sir."

Side note, I finally met someone whose name is my favorite name ever, Antigone. I saw that pop up on my register and I had to gush for about 5 minutes to this elderly lady about how much I loved that name and the play that shares it. She was happy about that though. .. Damn, why didn't I ask what her nickname is?

I'm not just happy with my name, I'm proud of it;

I was named after a cousin from my dad's side of the family who died when he pushed his girlfriend out the way of a car driven by a drunk driver.

Tommi, or Tommy, if you feel like being international.

I don't really like it. It could be worse, of course, but it just sounds so... I don't know, lame? Well, that's just me though

My name is a (mild)swear word in French, which is annoying because I live in a French speaking area. Francophones a lot of times will looked shocked when I introduce myself so I have to be very careful to pronounce it with an exaggerated English accent.

My last name is a lot of fun because it's Irish and is really hard to pronounce in French and it comes out sounding hilarious. Love it!...Also it means something like "Ruler of the Clan"

Yes, I love my name. It makes everyone who hears it for the first time always smiles or even laughs in joy as they clap their hands in excitement.

Happiness to the people :)

My family name comes from Caramon and Raistlin Majere themselves! Bless my nerd parents!
Oh, and Xaio is good enough. People still need me to pronounce it for them though.

I like my name, not only is it one that isn't used very often, but as far as I know i'm the only one in at least the Ayrshire/Starthclyde sector of Scotland.

Firstly i'll give my name in it's most basic spelling = Jared.
Now here is the spelling of Jared my parents gave me which i think is pretty cool = Jarryd

I couldn't care less to be honest. It's not a name that it was possible to tease with so it's decent. I mean seriously, my name doesn't matter at all. I don't know a name I would rather have, nor am I displeased or pleased with the one I got.

I can't complain about my name, it's bland and can't be made fun of, but it's not exactly interesting.
