The only real reason anyone is homophobic or think it's a sin is because they're struggling with their recent homosexual desires. Any other excuse, is just an excuse.
Or because their religion says it's wrong, and they're devout. That's like saying "People are only scared of wasps because secretly they wish they was a wasp".

On topic: No. Used to be slightly awkward around gays, tho I've never had a moral problem with it, just the 'unfamiliar' trepidation. Grown past that now tho and doesn't register as even slightly weird anymore.

I haven't had too many, let's say, interactions with gay men. The most was when I was on a short vacation in San Fransisco with my Mom. I was 18 (or maybe 17) at the time and living away from my mom and since I was attending the GDC then and she lived fairly close to SF we decided to meet up there for a couple of days after and just see some of the sights.

Anyways, in more than one hotel bar I had men ask to buy me a drink. Which was kinda embarrassing since my Mom was sitting right next to me (my thoughts in my head were like, "Oh man, FREE DRINKS! Hell ya."). But when I told them my age and that I was straight (if they pushed it) they politely backed away.

Other than that, I've met a few gay men but not for extended periods of time. And I don't have a problem with any of them except, as has been discussed, the stereotypes that just have really annoying personalities.

I wouldn't want some dirty skank ***** just randomly putting her diseased saliva on me in that situation. Seriously got to question if people stay home out of fear some dude might kiss them.

Actually, is there a way to keep dumb fuck conservatives at home for fear someone might kiss them?!

During polling this election season a group of hairy men will be randomly driving by and kissing other men. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!
LOL. You sir, win.

I'm not very comfortable with close comfort. I certainly wouldn't want anyone randomly planting a kiss on me, and I don't do the "hugging" thing unless I've got it. It's just one of those things that doesn't stop me from enjoying a good time or going out of my house.

Thank you! I appreciate that level headed approach to what is quite frankly a word/meaning that has been used and abused for too long to the point of "what I like" as opposed to it's real meaning of the natural order of things regardless if they are good or bad.

I don't like the fear seemingly present in some hetro guys that guys of a different sexuality are about to be assaulted by them any time soon. If you're straight and you make it known (but not in-your-face presence as the wind does blow both ways) that you prefer the intimate company of women, then you have the same chances of the aforementioned "attack of the gay" happening than you do of being struck by a meteor on the first day of every month for the next ten years which is needless to say...impossible.
I mean, there are gays who will not take no for an answer, but those are really no different from the jerks who mack on girls constantly despite the expressed lack of interest The only difference is, those jerks are everywhere because it's socially considered acceptable. And I bet at least half of the folks on here who say they're worried about gays doing it will also say this is wrong, but people really don't do anything about it.

It's possible every single one of them actually does have a problem with it, but it's far more likely every single one of the does not. It's all about the "illusion of fairness" to try and present yourself as levelheaded.

I await the day when the wind truly does blow both ways. You know, when either gays can "flaunt" their homosexuality or straights can't. Because honestly, I really would like to see everyone keep it in their pants in public. For all the complaints about gays, hets are the biggest and baddest offenders.

Considering I have a few gay friends and have had slightly sexual encounters with some of them, no, I'm not.

Interesting. But as I said, I'm not homophobic.
Yeah, I wouldn't claim otherwise. Just pointing out it's possible to be gay/bi/trans/pan/whatever and still hate people like you.

Personally, the more people we have who aren't, the better. XD

That's a great story. Genuinely made me smile.

I think we're all

In this thread right now.

At least, I am. Rum and cheer-up music and scrubs do that do me.

Did you ever see the Loading Ready Run on this site called "Gay Chicken?"

My friends have this weird tendency to that.

Sometimes to results I wish I had on video. The only question is: Blackmail or Youtube?

As long as someone who is gay stays away from and me, and doesn't even try to talk to me, we'll be fine. But they ask me to let them suck my dick (happened to a friend) then you'll be dead.

I'm not homophobic. I feel everyone is entitled to love whoever they wish. Despite this; I really get irritated by the 'gay voice' some gay males make.

I'm seeing a lot of people who "don't mind it but don't want to see it" in this thread, isn't that just less pronounced homophobia with a veil of tolerance? That and the sheer amount of people against public displays of affection...this isn't 1850. Anyway, I'm ranting, forgive me.

Personally I have no qualms with any sexual orientation. I had a bisexual best friend who openly fancied me (and I made out with him as a dare, so yeah) and, generally, I am tolerant of most things. Nothing much bothers me. I guess I'm the type of person that American Republicans would hurl abuse at.

Not remotely.... but I do steer clear when they're drunk.

You raise a valid point, actually. It's like when a person says "I'm not racist, I have plenty of black friends, I'd just never let my daughter marry one." Tolerance is a gray area sometimes, and it appears this is one of those times. Personally I'm just as cozy with gays showing public displays of affection as much as I am straights doing so. Which is to say I'm really not interested in either.

When I was 15, a gay guy attempted to rape me. He probably should have come armed because barehanded he picked the wrong victim and nearly got himself killed.

For a fair while after that (as in, over a decade) I was a foaming-at-the-mouth crusader that gays were an abomination and blah blah blah hate speech.

Then I got to know one. Thankfully someone told me "keep your fool mouth shut and don't offend this guy" and the someone (my then-girlfriend, who introduced me to him) was someone I didn't want to piss off, so I gave him a fair chance.
I have theorized before that one of the roots of male homophobia could be an inconscious fear of being raped.

Your story is amazing, I hope that the rapist is rotting slowly.

Myself, I believe that in equal rights but I am disgusted by men couples. So I am partially homophobic.

Je ne care pas. The loss of my homosexual best friend haunts me at night more than losing my ex. Not really applicable, but enjoy.

Yes. I am, in fact, homophobic, but not in the sense of the word you're using. I'm the kind of homophobe who hates things being the same (IE: Stagnation), which is what the word (upon taking it apart and using it in a more literal sense) actually means.

However, seeing as you are using the more modern variant of the word (which is fear/hatred of gays), I'm going to answer no. I have plenty of gay friends.

No I'm not homophobic. I've met plenty of people only who have said there homosexual. There just like anyone else you meet on the internet. Loud, impolite, douche bags. But they're still my friends :3

Also. FABULOUS~ *Jazz hands*

Not at all. I may be a little weirded out if they go into details, but I treat them the same as other people...
I'm exactly the same as you are. By all means people can be gay, but no sex on the kitchen table, my philosophy on this does include straight people. I'm kinda on the view that you can love whomever you wish, but that specifics should be their business, regardless of sexual preference.

Well... No. I see no reason to fear someone for who they like to sleep with. I still don't like P.D.A-moments in general, and people who are acting too camp for their "own good" get real annoying real fast. Be they straight, gay or anything in between.

Only "sexuality" that I can honestly claim hatred over is Metro-sexuality. You know... the "Oh, I'm totally straight but I like having my nails done, so I'm going to make up a sexuality that has nothing to do with sex and call myself that to seem edgier!"-people.
I refuse to acknowledge that as a genuine sexuality. I truly do.
So you're a straight guy who cares about how he looks? That's not a sexuality, that's just vanity. And there's nothing wrong with that either.
