Where do we end up in Earth B? Does everyone go to the same place? What can we take with us? Will people being willing to help each other out? Can I opt out of breeding?

Hmm... I shall have to shave my hair, there's far too much of it to take care of in frontier conditions. Need to pack some sort of knife, other tools, pencils, paper... *begins muttering and making lists*

NO! NO! NO! This is stupid. Why would you? Look at the bold, and think about it.

When I first stumbled across this thread, I thought it was a semi-emo post about leaving this world and all the idiots behind. Upon closer examination, this is actually quite an interesting question with serious answers and arguments.

I would LOVE to explore an extraterrestrial planet, but I don't like the thought about leaving home. Especially not if I can't come back. I think I will stick with A.
Thanks... :D

Either way there are pro's and con's. But if a lot of people left for Earth B, Earth A would pretty much be allowed to redevelop itself. Especially if about half of the worlds population legged it to Earth B.

I'd move to Earth B...
because all the cool kids are doing it.
HAHAHAHAHAA

I guess I'd just shove a Sonic Team employee through.
or tell him there's candy and shiny objects on the other side.

but I would probably go, would be interesting.

Well there is a chance to explore a new world. And, just because you cannot return, doesn't mean you lose your loved ones or technology. You could go through first and have your family send objects/technology/food. etc through the portal, and then follow through later.

Although the main problem is, what if not all your family want to go to Earth B.

earth B, because I think something like battle royale would happen very quickly and I'd want to see it. (yes I'm that sadistic)

PS: shotgun and frag grenades would be a necessity.

Earth A, because I have a sneaking suspicion that Earth A will invade Earth B once it has developed a civilization and laid down an infrastructure (which, mind you, will happen much faster than previous frontier-settling, considering the modern tech people will bring along). After all, if Earth B is Earth as it would have been without human contact, then there's loads of untapped resources and a clean atmosphere. Earth B can't even fight back, as the portal is one-way, so I don't need to worry about getting nuked by some counter-attack.

Yes, you could say that, but you forgot the "Other than this, nothing else is know". that means for all we know, the atmosphere could be of mars, It could be too far from it's star, it could have no water, it could be a number of things. Just cause it has the same geographical layout as our Earth does not mean any thing.

My answer is still "NO! NO! NO!".

Edit: Also, If you leave, and you stay, you will never know if anything I said is true.

B if its the exact same geograpihaly it would be beautiful really without all the massive hideous cities everywhere, and the fuckwit population would be alot lower. Ofcourse upon arriving there my first priority would be to blow the ever loving fuck out of the gateway.

You raise some good points, and yeah, theres no way to know what happens on the other side. Whether people die, and from what causes. But I suppose some people will always be looking for that sense of adventure, the ability to step into the unknown.

The way I seee it, this decision simply boils down to whether your content on Earth A. Or want something new which you can achieve from Earth B.

Failing that, lots of claymores and/or Spikes in holes.

Yes, but you forget that most likely, the thing you will find on the other side will be almost certain death. It is much more likely that you will die in the first 0.1-10 seconds dew to what i said before. Also, if you are right, there will likely be something in the way when you come out the portal. Maybe the portal will send you high in the air and you will fall to your death. Perhaps it will put you under ground or close to the earths core. This is not a video game, if you teleport it to something, you will die. and anyway my first idea in my original post is more likely any way.

Earth B. I can finally escape the old crazy religions, and enjoy the new ridiculously silly ones that pop up in the new world.

Now, heres the tough part, which one would you live on. And this is open ended in terms of why.
Its up to you, you make up the reason for which Earth you live on. Go Crazy...

For example...
I would travel to world B because, there are monsters on Earth B that need slaying.
Or... I would stay on Earth A, as when everybody leaves, it would be easier to take over.

EDIT: Just to encourage this further, once you leave, you cannot return to Earth A.

Can anyone else think of ways to mix this up a bit?
im pretty sure everyone but china and russia would leave.
but i'd leave to go slay some beasts or dinos...with my bare hands of course.
then after 10 years i'd go back to earth A and see who won that battle for earth...then go back to B

I would definitely go to Earth B. It would be like Earth A only before they ruined it by, yno, dicovering and mapping it all out. And it would probably be mostly forest, meaning guns are useless and stealth and swords are back in. :D

Plus pirates would be a possibility again. Always good.

It really depends......do we bring our technology with us?? Or start fresh?
