Yes for my father. My father is willfully ignorant which I consider to be the stupidest thing someone can be.

He's racist, and judges something without learning anything about it. He has needless opinions without knowledge to assist.

He didn't finish grade 9 and that would be excusable as intelligence is not the same as education. I won't hold it against someone who couldn't learn. But it is inexcusable for someone who won't learn. Refusing to learn is something I can't forgive.

My Mother is far more open minded, she doesn't need to learn things like science or maths, but she's very inquisitive. When she meets someone from another country she asks them so many questions. It impresses me how much she is willing to learn.

Willingness to learn is an appropriate sign of intelligence, so I'd consider my mum an equal or better.

My father has 2 masters in manufacturing operations and mechanical engineering. He is the COO of a 400 million dollar company. Draw your own conclusions.

My mother is a nurse who grew up in farmsville, MI and has said the word "negro" once or twice in conversation, and has precisely ZERO knowledge on the world or technology. I was smarter than her when I could tie my own shoes.

I've had a better education than them but as for actual intelligence, I think we're at about the same level.

Sort of.

Speaking in terms of street smarts, I can not describe the magnitude of their superiority to me, especially my dad.

Academically, it's complicated. I easily trump my dad there, but my mom is exceedingly intelligent, though in a different way. She can remember, understand, and utilize information she reads with ease. I can't do that. What I can do is take basic concepts and push them to their logical extremes, if that makes any sense.

She has a mind for history and biology, and I have a mind for physics, chemistry, and mathematics.

My mother is well educated and intelligent about many things, technology not so much. My father is fairly intelligent but his job does not encourage thinking. So probably just as intelligent than them, but way better with technology.

I fix/maintain my parent,s computer I also speak English fluently/accentless (my mom can,t speak english and my dad speaks it with a southern accent which might have to do with his love of Country music) on the other hand I can,t speak Spanish/German (speaking German is pretty important since I live near the German border and Germans not wanting to learn English or Dutch)

I'm definitely smarter than my dad. He's a compulsive liar, so he's good at talking, but underneath he's running a low-watt bulb.

My mum I'd say I'm about even with. Every time I have to sit in front of a computer with her, though, I want to tear out my jugular and watch it bleed hatred all over the floor.
She does have a habit of being easily swayed by emotion, but a lot of people are like that. When she is in control, she's a bright lady.

In some subjects yes, but in others no. Not quite the top of the family yet, but it's inevitable.

they have over 35 years on me so in many different ways yes, other no. Youth is fresh but nive. Age is cocky and can be stale in many cases. catching up to my father fast couple of years and some effort (when I can be bothered to do something with my life) and I will catch my mum. The fact you grow up in different times makes a big different's to relevance as well.

>Going to CalTech for an Astrophysics doctoral degree
>Parents went to the University of Minnesota for Masters' in Audiology and Economics

While I respect the U of M's academic credit and my parents' accomplishments, I think Astrophysics clears that bar from a purely academic standpoint.

And I'm just plain smarter than them on a day-to-day basis, so there's that.

in most aspects yes, but in some aspects no, my mom knows some more about grammar/language stuff and marketing while my dad is somewhat of a genius when it comes to supply/demand/sales type stuff, but beyond that, ESPECIALLY technology, i am far far far ahead.

I am smarter than my mum, but not smarter than my dad. his IQ is the infinite space from here to the moon. So about 140, and he lives up to that.

I am by no means stupid, I am just not as smart as him ( I AM doing a higher level of education than both my parents though. My dad was just too lazy, my mom not smart enough)

Some yes and others no.

I'm miles ahead of them with computers or technology but they both have master degrees so not in education. (yet)

Yes and no. I'm better at math, computers and language. My dad is far superior in mechanics and modern history. We're both pretty good at useless trivia though. Mom isn't as intelligent as us, but she's much better socially (while I'm awkward and my dad often comes off as odd).
