I don't play MMOs much anymore, but I generally tried to be helpful to others even if they were of an opposing faction (i.e. covering someone's retreat). But if they then tried to attack me or didn't thank me, I'd sometimes beat 'em down.

So I guess you could call me a split-personality gamer.

D: I'll help the enemy out if I dont like someone on my team.
LOL that's awesome. But doesn't it just make you a passive-aggressive gamer?

I never punish for team killing and in World of Warcraft I usually let Alliance go ,if I am not on my rogue, and even help them sometimes.

I don't play any games where being nice to an enemy is a good idea... walking towards an enemy in CoD:WaW without shooting, nading or knifing him isn't smart :p

I help out players of the other faction on WoW sometimes. At the Amphitheater of Anguish in Zul'Drak, there are two groups queueing up for a fight sometimes (one Horde and one Alliance group) and it's common that they help eachother out. For the sake of helping eachother, and so the other group can have their turn faster. It's fun, really. I usually help lowbees in trouble out too, no matter what faction they're on.

However, I can never resist killing someone in PVP, not even if they just helped me out.

Sometimes I'll help an enemy out, like if I see a lower level Alliance on World of Warcraft in trouble, I'll step in just to make it a little bit easier for them...

I also help my enemy in games like Team Fortress 2 and Left 4 Dead get achievements, hopefully in doing so helping some one out and perhaps some help as well...

im nice to people because of a few reasons:

1. hopefully they will treat nicely as well.
2. it gives a better reputation.
3. you wont be classified as noob.

If everything's going well, I'm usually quite nice. But then there are those moments when Rogues are stealing your every kill in bgs. One time we lost a game of CTF (it's been awhile so idk what the level is called) because of a kill stealer. The score was tied, 2 to 2. We each had the other team's flag in our flag room. I was fighting someone one on one, when a Rogue (who was sitting there invisible the whole time) gets in a quick shot for the win. I start insulting him, and while typing the player with our flag says "You have more health, take the flag." She drops it. A Druid in travel form ran in and returned it for the win. And all because some Rogue wanted one extra kill, when he could have been helping me the whole fight!

Too nice when it comes to gaming? Only pretentious 1337 N00b514y3r5 worry about that. It's just a game. I have nothing to prove. I'm sick of internet tough guys thinking the internet = SRS business.

MMO's I help anyone who is the WoW equivalent of 1-30. After that, they can fend for themselves. In any other game, I play by this rule:

DEAAAAATTTHHHH!

I'm nice but tough - In WoW a human rogue was at low health and eating a hearty meal to heal himself, I left him be and quested nearby, once he healed, he immediately killed me.
I had every horde in the general area on his ass in minutes, as well as destroying him a few times myself (as a Druid, I could give him a taste of his own stealthy medicine)

I can't think of any other online game that offers much chance for benevolence... does healing someone with my medpack on Left 4 Dead count?

I find, in general, that if you're nice to people they will be nice back. Sure, some people will take advantage of your kindness, but most will be grateful and more inclined to help you later on. You don't get invited to private parties in left 4 dead by abandoning your teammates. So yes, I am very nice when I game, but I don't think there is such thing as too nice.

Well, apparently according to my brothers, I'm way too nice in games. I always save the Little Sisters, always go the Paragon route in Mass Effect, was a generally nice guy in Fable 2 (ok, I stole everyone's stuff and shot my wife once too, but she was leaving me, that whore...) Also, I'm supposedly a completely murderous psycho in real life but I'm not- wait, I'm on psycho pills, have given the death threat to numerous people and have beaten the shit out of countless people. Yeah, I'm a psycho.
