My parents are definitely no gamers. One or twice I convinced them to play a beat'em up like Tekken up or a racer like Mario Kart, they had kinda fun considering that I "forced" them but they would never play a videogame because they would want to.
In fact especially my father hates videogames and thinks that they are just for kids :(

Mom almost never plays games. The only real exceptions are the occasional Wii Resort or whatever it was called. She doesn't find them interesting.

Dad is a bit different. He doesn't like casual games, but he recognizes that he's just not very good at most of them. Part of it is eye-hand coordination, but in many cases his mind comes up with solutions to problem that would theoretically could work in RL, but fail in game due to programing limitations. He doesn't feel the intuitive sense of "the game can't do that" that most people who grow up with them develop. So basically, he likes to watch games, sometimes to the point of half-ordering it. Best chore ever, for the most part. He doesn't like turn based games, or anything anime-esque, which means that my little brother and he share more interest overlap. Not that there aren't any we both like. He loves the Metroid Prime series and keeps pushing me to continue Other M (sadly...).

By dad is a technophobe who can operate his mobile phone. (Well... I can't operate it either. Nokia makes some very user unfriendly operating systems.)
He has no interest in video games whatsoever.

My mother used to play Tetris in the mid 90s but I don't think she has touched a video game since.

My mom loves casual games, though she used to play SMB3, and she beat the original Legend of Zelda. My parent also like to play Mario Kart 64. They had a more difficult time figuring out the later two Mario Karts.

Well My dad hates games, but my mum bought a wii today.
SHE UNPLUGGED MY XBOX TO PLUG IT IN ;_;

Im timing how long it is till it gets forggoten.
You'd be surprised. The Wii has a way of getting non-gamers addicted. My grandmother's retirement home has a Wii and there's usually someone playing it whenever we go over to visit.
Yeah but, uh, shut up your opinion is invalid ;[

My mom plays Farmville. She has a DS and plays some random games occasionally, but they're stuff like Cooking Mama.

I didn't know parent gamers existed!

Do they have wings?
Do they still speak with their mouth?
What do they look like?

My mom has never played a game more recent than Ms. Pac Man. I gave my dad my old Wii (after I realized it was garbage) and he plays quite a bit of Tiger Woods, Trivial Pursuit, and a couple other casual games.

My dad basically got me into gaming whether he intended it or not. Among the titles he played and finished are Doom & Doom2, TR1 - 5, C&C Tiberian Dawn, Red Alert & Retaliation and Resident Evil 1 & 2.

He didn't carry on into the later generations of games but I suspect that's due in part to being so busy.

Mum was never any good at them though, no hand to eye coordination. She'd try and figure out the puzzles in TR though.

My mother absolutely despises games, however, an interesting moment when i needed some help with a co-op section on little big planet, I asked what what did i have to lose, and asked her to help. We had take out that evening, as She and I beat that game to a pulp. She has never touched them since. But now I have little Big planet 2....

My mother plays some casual games sometimes, tetris, hocus-pocus (there's an obscure reference) recently she downloaded angry birds. My dad though, not at all.

My dad plays a (very old) baseball game similar to something like Football Manager, where you take your team through a season and try to win stuff. He once had a session with Rollercoaster Tycoon, but when he accidentally pulled an all-nighter while doing so he swore off it.

My mum doesn't exactly dislike games, but I think that she does see them as a less worthy medium than film or books. I'm slowly persuading her otherwise, but even if I manage to do so she'll never be one to play them. (I did manage to convince her to play Halo once... which was hilarious. She had absolubtly no control over her character at all, sending it crashing into walls and bouncing off NPCs. Afer five minutes she managed to get out of the tutorial room, then gave up when she realised she'd have to turn before she could walk down the corridor.)

My mom used to have an Atari, so she sometimes plays casual games or classic style games like Centipede

Dad plays a bit of halo. In fact at first he was the one who got me onto Halo at the age of 9 or something and I grew, learned and eventually became the best in the family

I wasn't allowed to buy video games at all until I turned 16 and could only play them at friends' houses for the most part even after. That should answer all your questions.

My Dad used to (got me into it), but not so much anymore because he doesn't have time. He does go back to EVE Online quite regularly though, not as much as he'd like I don't think.

My dad bought my Nintendo DS from me... he plays it more in a week than I did in the three years I had it. Only stuff like Mahjongg and Solitaire but still, it's something. My mum can't even figure out how to work that.

they occasionally play with the kinect. my mother used to try out games my little sister and brother want to play before they were allowed too. now that they are getting older she uses my opinion. im honest cause frankly i get pissed when they are allowed to play more mature games than i was at thier age. i had to wait till i was 18 to play frickin halo. my little brother got too at 15! :(
