I assume you mean the zombies from 4 and 5 I have to tell you they arent zombies.
Just saying because it stated "resident evil zombies" (trust me as soon as they brought out the axes, chainsaws, bikes, guns, zombie chicks that are not actual zombies but are "infected", and tenticles, I noticed) so take out the 4 and 5 and I will say yes, we can train zombies because we can USE them.
ur not making much sense...i said resident evil "zombies"...that being the key word, not infected people from 4,5...and you said if you take 4&5 out, we can train them? that doesnt make sense.

with 4 and 5 aside(meaning the zombies that you actually want).... we can train zombies? thats pretty much what i said. so to help you out... incase you are STILL confused.... my answer is yes. I mean look who we trained in the past... and made president.

I thought about this not long ago, i would be inclined to say yes. i mean they are essentially like wild animals, which do respond to select methods ie. they try and bite they may have a shock collar or otherwise therefore assuming this you could get them to respond to the same stimuli. ie. they dont eat you, they get food.
of course even if i had the opportunity to try i wouldn't ^.^

No i don't think they are. You could obviously goad them into attacking something or someone, but they would always eat your brains the moment you wern't looking.

Yes, from what I've heard they are. If they can work on a sugar plantation, then they learned how to do that.
Edit: I'm talking about the real zombies.

you dont necessarily have to train them... but that depends on what you want to acheive with them...

im not convinced that L4D are zombies though...my justifcation for them is that they are like 28 weeks later. and i did specify, i said not voodoo, and not shaun of the dead. that only leaves regular zomibes...unless there are more types
My apologies I must have missed that for some odd reason... Anyways I think he couldnt train them but more aim them. With people of course but aim them at a city we dont like and let them loose. This isnt training but they do have military futures in my mind!

Depends on what Zombie legends you lend to. If you, like myself, lean towards the Max Brooks Zombie, then no, they are not.

Yes. Just watch the third Resident Evil movie (Extinction). The Big Bad in that film is focusing his research on two things. Project Alice, and the training and domestication of zombies. With some limited success :)

So according to my co-worker, he says zombies are trainable. I have to disagree with him on that one. The only function that they have is to feed and basic motor skills. he says thats all you need. What do you guys think. And im talking about ZOMBIES, not voodoo zombies, or shawn of the dead zombies. like Dawn of the Dead, resident evil....those zombies
I'm going to assume from your examples that you mean the Dawn of the Dead remake that aren't 'proper' zombies anyway.
I make this assumption because if you had meant the original Dawn of the Dead you'd subscribe to the Romero mythos, which if you'd seen both Day and Land it is shown that they still possess capacity to learn.

Don't get me wrong, i prefer my zombies to be nothing more than mindless eating machines, a la Max Brooks, but for the love of God, don't come on here spouting beliefs about what 'proper' zombies are only to list a remake and the freiking Resident evil films.

If you use some type of special pheremone then you could probably manipulate them.

Actully in Haiti they have non-movie zombies who are trained to collect illegal (and maybe legal) crops when i say non-movie i mean they are recently dead people revived by a zombie spell into brain dead survents who amazingly don't eat brains.

No they are sort of mindless, all humanity lost.

Admittedly if they know to eat and such they are sentient, but really I think given how low they are cognitive wise they're not going to remember anything bar basic functions.

But really I would only want to teach it how to die more spectacularly when I take it down with a shotgun.

I'd say they're trainable, but it would be like trying to domesticate wild animals - sure, they seem obedient, but sooner or later they'll snap and try to bite your arm off.

Possibly. But not entirely. You can certainly make them docile. If The Walking Dead comics are to be believed anyway.

[spoiler/][img/]http://mondomedeusah.typepad.com/photos/uncategorized/2008/10/25/walkingdead.jpg[/img]
In the comic, this chick (forget her name) rips off the zombies arms and jaws, so they can't harm her. She then walks them around where ever she goes like dogs on leashes. For some reason the other zombies don't attacker if she does so, as long as she doesn't get too close. They probably mask her scent or something (this has been used before when two of the characters covered themselves in zombie gore in order to pass though them unnoticed). It's certainly a cool idea.

Personally I believe you should be able to do whatever you want with Zombies, Vampires, Werewolves ect. There's no set rules, so as long as it's interesting who cares. I mean, look at 28 Days Later. Infected, running people is one of the best innovations in zombies. It's what made them scary again after Shaun of the Dead.

If you hitch 2 of them to some yolks & dangle a big chunk of meat off a fishing poll in front of them, I'm sure you can train them to pull your carriages & plow your fields.
